I just listen to music as much as I possibly can so my bluetooth speaker I just purchased is for those times I have no other option, like on the beach or in the camper, heck I have even streamed Tidal to it and strapped it to my backpack while biking Chad

Sonos Play1? Sonos is only wifi and A/C powered, I bought a Headrush Splash, seems decent enough so far and can get wet so that's a bonus

He does. It's sad in this day and age we have to say "how about stereo though?" He is wrong on one point though. It also sucks because the speakers tend to be crap.

Of course they're crap; bluetooth is lossy compression, so right off the bat you've degraded your music. No matter what you start with, you're going to degrade it when you transmit over bluetooth (and don't talk about aptX unless you can show me objective proof it's lossless). So bluetooth doesn't give you 'garbage in, garbage out,' it gives you 'moderately decent stuff in, garbage out."

Yeah not a big fan of it myself, but the key is listening first. Your Hee-man rig has to stay home but your mobile is well, mobile, or you have to use it for some reason. The key is just listening. Not going to replace your system, but it is about options. If the music you love can be played other ways, why not? May not be the best, but hey, your music is playing, and that's all that counts sometimes.

Should be renamed: Why your article sucks. A Bluetooth speaker is a utilitarian device that satisfies both crowds.....Those who have tin ears and can't hear the difference between speakers from Emotiva vs. speakers from Walmart.
And......folks like ( most of us here,) that get it .....that are not trying to replicate what's heard in the dedicated room, but want the source material that motivates their heart and soul in a space that could not be reached beforehand.
Sometimes, I listen to bluray commentaries out on the deck from my Sony UHPH1, with Bluetooth audio out to the wireless speaker. I need "Hi Fi" for that??
