Hi folks,
New XPA-Gen 3 owner here and thought I'd stop in and say hello. It's running a system that includes a Yamaha CX-A5100 preamp, KEF Reference Series Model 3 fronts, KEF Q200C Center, KEF Reference Series Model 1 Surronds, 2x Velodyne, HGS-18 subs. Some of you will recognize that the fronts/ surrounds and subs are pretty old. Long story short, had a theater powered with Parasound HCA amps/AVC preamp, then didn't now have again with XPA and Yamaha and all my old speakers/subs.
Have to say, I thought I had a great system set up with Parasound but this new set up is really quite spectacular. And the room it's in isn't anywhere near as "home theater friendly" as my Parasound set up. This is in no way a slam on Parasound and I'm certain the advances in amp/preamp technology are certainly contributing to what seems to sound much better. I did a lot of research before deciding on Emotiva and very happy with decision. The price point for the amount of power is outstanding in my humble opinion. I'm no expert when it comes to all the technical/measurement specs for good sound, but all I know is this system sounds damn good. I probably would have gone with the XMX-1 as well but the Yamaha had Bluetooth for easy streaming of music from iPhones and iTouch and in the end that was the differentiator since price was about same.
With all the advances now with 7, 9 and 11 channel content....probably won't be long before I'm back for another 4 to 6 channels of Emotive amps. The ordering and delivery process/timeframe was first class and the wl come letter signed by company personnel was classy.
I'll be popping in occasionally to read the various boards and hope everyone is enjoying their Emotiva equipment as much as I am.
