Dang skippy ! My threads are like that! 😋 They seem to get locked often! But nobody gets to post on them, 😢 LC knows what he is talking about here and a Mark only update thread sounds cool to me. We need solid info from the source that does not get stepped on around here. Let's just hope that info on all the gear that we get is not vapor. I see Emotiva changing there stance on info and that is a good thing. I told them to keep it silent until and they did not like that. It is the Emersa gear I want to see and got frustrated. Im all about Mark posting info from Emofest! I made a rather poor pun. I guess Im the only one that got it! No worries. 😁

This thread has got way off course but I am blown away by all the products Emotiva has and will have. I kinda think they need to rename the different versions of the XMC-1. When the new upgrade boards are available, there will only be 4 versions, if I'm thinking correctly. 1. HDMI 1.4 board, ie: v1 board 2. HDMI 2.0 board, ie: v2 board (1 HDMI 2.o/HDCP 2.2 compliant input & output, not HDR capable) 3. HDMI 2.0b board, ie: v3 board, all HDMI 2.0b inputs/outputs) 4 HDMI 2.0b board & Dolby Atmos/DTS:X upgrade. Id like to review model #4 ASAP Please. 😁

But nobody gets to post on them, 😢 Most likely we'll keep the thread open, but leave the first, 4 or 5 posts empty for Mark to add what it is that he deems necessary. There will no quoting of Mark's initial posts, as they will be long and informed with his first hand info. Mainly just question posts that haven't been answered yet, this way we keep clutter to a minimum and all Lounge members and guest know they need only go to the beginning of the thread for the latest answers and updates. This is how we did the last EmoFest and it worked out nicely!

Who knows, maybe I'll completely upgrade to option #4, sell it and apply the proceeds and my 40% card towards an RMC-1 !?! Gotta love options!!!

I am bypassing the XMC-1. I still want the small slim Emersa prepro with XMC guts but if I am going big time for a full blown home system I will spend the extra coin on the RMC-1. That's just me. I want the Emersa first as promised by Dan, then I will buy his RMC-1. Congress, lets get it done like you promised is what I am saying.

No worries. 😁 I got it Nick ; I was going to say that makes your threads certainly very exclusive Another poor pun Soon adds up for sure .Chances are a vast majority of 1. and 2. will upgrade to 4. ; either through necessity or for resale value I would think which simplifies the nomenclature significantly . The options would soon mount up when the XMC2 is released ; leaving it simple means not adding another version for hdmi 2.1 I was thinking

Any updates as to when Options #3 or #4 from the post above will be available?

I think they need something like this or its just going to lead to confusion for new customers.

And yes, I agree, they need a numbering convention (whatever it is) for products that are fundamentally the same but with different iterations. Cheers Gary

HDMI 2.0b board, ie: v3 board & Dolby Atmos/DTS:X upgrade. Regarding #3 & #4, I'm under the impression that #4 is a PROCESSOR upgrade, not an HDMI upgrade, and that it simply requires #3 to function. Check the product page: "Replacement processor/decoder board adds support for Dolby Atmos and DTS-X"

I'm currently juggling inputs to the UMC-200 to get around the lack of 4K/UHD/HDMI/HDCP support. Using ARC from the TV works OK, but is limited to lossy audio. On the Oppo 203 at the moment I use the 2 x HDMI outputs. It all works OK, but there is bit of input shuffling required, often with 2 or 3 steps, not exactly a high WAF rating.
In a couple of weeks the Apple TV5 (UHD/4K) will be launched, which means much more 4K video and lossless audio content for me to access. Very soon I hope that the XMC-1.4 with HDMI 2.0b board, ie: V3 board & Dolby Atmos/DTS:X upgrade, will be available.
Cheers Gary

go read the emofest report in the green room...1st post Thanks for the reference. Am I reading that correctly to mean that the HDR/4k HDMI boards won't be available until after the RMC-1 is released? So, in other words Q1 2018?

So, in other words Q1 2018? Mostly correct...because...not sure that "after" is the right way to think about it. It's more like when one is done and ready, the other is. There may be other things about the RMC-11 that hold it up other than the 4K board. My guess is that as soon as they have the board ready, it will be available for XMC-1 upgrades. If something (let's make something up...like...supply of the special cryogenically treated fuses for the RMC-1) holds up the RMC that's unrelated to the board...the upgrade will be out for the XMC-1. Make sense? Mark

Wouldn't you be wasting the freight on the V2 and the V3 video boards plus then the Atmos/DTSX board? For me, half a world away, that would cost more than half a new XMC-2 and I'd be without a processor for 6 to 8 weeks added up. Cheers Gary
