Tired of waiting for the Outlaw 976 processor, so while searching for alternatives found Emotiva. I'm now looking to purchase the MC-700 along with the 7 channel A-700 Amp but the specs show only an 80 watt rating. Has anyone found this amp to be on the wimpy side power wise as i have a fairly large room?
Thanks

Hi alien , welcome to the friendliest "nuthouse" on the net. So glad you stumbled upon us, many of us ended up here the same way. And just never went home,,,ha,,,ha,,, Emotiva amps have never benn call wimpy as long as I can remember. The A-700 will provide a true 80 wpc, no gimmicks! Will it be enough power for your room depends on many things, including room size, speaker sensitivity acoustics and treatment. Please tell us more. Post your gear in the profile section as this will help us help you. No detail is to small to mention about room dimensions or treatment etc. Once again, welcome To the House.

Has anyone found this amp to be on the wimpy side power wise as i have a fairly large room? Thanks If it was my money, I'd skip the MC-700 and wait a bit longer. I say this from a very short experience with it. I didn't think the sound quality it bought for the price was worth it and I encountered bugs/usability issues, slow HDMI switching. The overall impression was "it's okay *maybe*" which I assume you aren't interested in because you are looking for separates. Now the XMC-1 sounded different and better with better control as a preamplifier of the power amps too. But it is also pricey imo. I also thought the sound quality it bought for the price was maybe a bit stretching it for the $$. BUT it DID bring sound quality and it was noticeable. There's nothing wrong with the A-700. You are getting what you pay for with it. It'll do a decent job. You won't be upset with it. If you want more power you can look for an XPA-7 gen 2 used which you could possibly get at about $800. You can also fish around for a UPA-5 (not to be confused with the newer UPA-500) + a UPA-2 (which B'zilla has for sale) to get a powerful seven channel setup for about the same price as the XPA-7 gen 2 but with a bit less power.

If I remember correctly, Gar listened to them on speakers he had never heard before (BasX) with electronics he's never heard before (BasX) before any kind of optimization was done on any aspect of that setup. To distill any disappointment in sound to the MC seems odd considering all of the unknowns and the brief effort, not to mention how he and Boom struggled and couldn't figure out the menu system. However his points on HDMI and bugs is correct, but differs based on people's setup (cables and devices).
I wouldn't necessarily recommend getting the MC, but life is too short to wait on the Outlaw. Get *something*, or try *something* (the MC can be returned) until you find a processor that will satisfy you until the Outlaw comes out. I would bet the Outlaw will have issues of its own for some period of maturation as well, though.

With that being said, there are many variables that you havent specified but you wont be disappointed either way in my opinion.
