In my case there are quite a few tracks that, when they come on the system, make me reach for the volume knob and TURN IT UP. This happened today while listening in random play on the headphone system. "In The Meantime" by Helmet, and I grabbed the knob and head banged like I was 40 again, thrashing in the pit at Mabuhey Gardens. Now I need to get some aspirin, but it sure was a lot of fun to relive those 3 and a half minutes.
What tracks do that to you?

Like all of Jackson's songs it is produced wonderfully. This has that good rock edge and great dynamics.
Also, one of my faves from the new releases pile.

Dynamic range is your friend here. Differences between quiet and loud. Goes for photography also.

Wow, there are a bunch. But the first one that just pops is my head is Lenny Kravitz, Are You Gonna Go My Way. I'm using my phone right now or I'd attach a link. Cool video too.
So far today listening, the one that made me punch it up was Dave Matthews, Old Dirt Hill.

I'll bet for real Helmet fans its the worst wuss song, and I'm considered a poser, but when I'm in the mood to get it cranked up with metal, UNSUNG still just friggin jams. Right up there with Blackened by Metallica. Lots of metal songs, but these 2 are cream of the crop necessary listening. Should be required listening in school. 😋 |
