When the XMC is on standby, the amber pilot light is sometimes, brighter than other times after shutdown.
I'm not the brightest light either, and after nearly 3 years, I finally realized WHY that is.....
When the unit is powered up, you have the display lighting options between 20 and 100 percent.
Those settings are tied into the amber standby light. Mystery solved!
At first, I thought my display lighting was headed down the same road as my former processor, which DID have a faulty lighting display. So happy 😁 to be wrong!

Sunfire Theater Grand II was the processor replaced by the XMC-1. According to Sunfire technical support, the current was too high feeding the illumination display on those original units, causing premature fade out and in some cases the display going out all together.
Mine faded away and was virtually unreadable, and for a while, I thought something might also be going on here.
Both the onscreen and monitor display of the XMC are the best and most informative I've seen to date.(and plenty bright indeed)
