Got the XMC-1 installed and sounds fantastic on vinyl and blurays. I have an issue though. I have no Ethernet access downstairs where the prepro resides. Is there any other way to get access to the XMC-1? It kinda make Dirac a bit difficult to run... The newer Powerline Ethernet adapters are also a great alternative to wireless. The must plug directly into a wall outlet (no power strips, surge protectors or extension cords), so you must have an open wall outlet within reasonable proximity to both your router and your XMC-1. Some have AC pass-through, so you don't necessarily waste an outlet. I've used them for various purposes and they work great... Same here, they work very well. When I use wireless and someone uses the microwave oven, the reception gets all messed up. I've never had any problem with using the powerline adapters.

What is the wireless bridge you use? I can't use the Ethernet over power as it makes my fiber optik cable very unstable.

So while I'm waiting to get Dirac set up, I've been playing through all my old SACDs, DTS discs, some vinyl, etc. all through the XMC-1 straight direct, no sub - 5.0. And threw in a couple movie clips.
Daaaayum! This thing sounds nice! Everything is so clear. The most surprising thing is the increased bass articulation on music. I expected the better resolution and clarity but the bass almost feels stronger, not louder, but stronger and more defined. Really impressed so far.
Lots more listening to do...

It's just so damn good. I really hope you can get one back in your system soon. Jeff

So... got the bridge set up and had to spend a good part of Saturday trying to get the XMC-1 recognized by my router. That was a bit of a challenge but finally got it. Ran Dirac and so far I like what it does, but stereo direct still sounds pretty damn good without it. I need to do more listening... it's nice to have more than one great sounding choice. My hi-res HDTracks downloads sound crazy good. And I'm still only running a 5.0 config. Need my Airmotiv S12 to ship!!

Update... Well, I'm a believer in Dirac. After a week or so of listening to different sources, media types, etc I have to say that Dirac improves on almost anything. I was a big direct only listener on my UMC-1 for vinyl, cd's, anything 2-ch. on the XMC-1, as good as direct 2-ch sounds, Dirac makes it cleaner, more clear, overall a better sound to me. It did widen the soundstage and make the center image a bit diffused, but toeing in the speakers bought the center image back into focus. My wife thinks everything sounds better and I didn't think she would even notice the difference. This prepro is an amazing piece of electronics.

My thoughts exactly, especially if you have an untreated room. Chad

Got the XMC-1 installed and sounds fantastic on vinyl and blurays. I have an issue though. I have no Ethernet access downstairs where the prepro resides. Is there any other way to get access to the XMC-1? It kinda make Dirac a bit difficult to run... Since you are using this for setup, not permanent install, why not pick up a 50-100' inexpensive ethernet cable, and just plug it in for setup, then remove....pretty quick and cost effective. It also lessens the claptrap factor, (unless you plan to use the internet for other things on a permanent basis).

I was going to do just that, but I bought an inexpensive Ethernet bridge off Amazon and I got it to work. So all is good. Thanks! Jeff

Listening to "Kind of Blue" on 180 gram vinyl, in 2-ch Dirac. There seems to be a guy sitting between my speakers playing the sax live. It's that good.

Question for the Dirac experts here... Is there a way to print or show the room curve from the Dirac measurements after I've saved the project and closed Dirac?
