I too would love to see an ERC-3 or DC-3 what ever you want to call it. The DC-1 looks like a toy. Yeah I know you buy audio with your ears and not your eyes but I still love the looks of Emo stuff, but the dc-1 just ain't sexy. In fact I have waited on the purchase of a dc-1 one in hopes of a full size version that matches all my other emo gear. HOPE SPRINGS ETERNA. I agree on the form factor. Having had it for some time, I've come to like its portability. But the best looks come from the XDA-1/2 form factor. Gorgeous units. The DC-1's has an advantage in not only having really excellent sound quality, but it has two dac chips running in dual mono configurations while the ERC-3 and XDA-1/2 have one DAC chip. Other things about it you may not know. It has a ASRC jitter reduction circuit which does not resample the signal. It processess it at the original rate. For instance 44.1 khz CD audio is processed at 44.1. An XDA-2 resamples 44.1 to 96 khz essentially changing the information when it does so. The headphone circuitry on the DC-1 is much more powerful than the XDA-2. For instance for my headphones I think the XDA-2 puts out 19 milliwatts of power. While the DC-1 puts out something like 130 or 300. I forgot which number, but it was more powerful. There are two separate ressistor ladder analog volume controls on the dc-1 - one for the headphone amp and one for the line outs. There are also two separate high current headphone amp chips on the DC-1. It's one of the best DACs I've heard.

I love the size of the DC-1 because I can use a 1U slot for both my DC-1 and Mac Mini.
