I use the Chuck Elliot app and have my xmc-1 and a few other things hard wired to my router... wanted to reposition the router to middle of house and use one long ethernet plua an ethernet switch to keep everything hard wired.
The first ethernet switch I bought works great... for everything except the xmc-1 which works fine again as soon as I plug it to the router direct.
Does anyone know of an ethernet switch that definitely works with xmc-1?
Thanks.

I don't have any experience with Chuck's app, but generally speaking, as long as the switch is plugged directly into a LAN port on the router, any unmanaged Ethernet switch should work just fine. I use THIS one and have had no issues whatsoever communicating with my XMC-1.

Yep - any decent switch will work perfectly.

Yeah, switches are pretty much a commodity these days. Did you try a different port? Verify that your cables are good?
I have a couple of the same model as doc1963 and don't have any issues.

I found i have to have the latest of chucks app to get to the XMC-1 other than that any switch will work, i use old routers for some of my switch's. I prefer to use static ip on my network though i also have dhcp enabled. Get chucks latest here. emotivalounge.proboards.com/thread/39633/diy-xmc-1-pc-app

Thanks for the input everyone. (Wow that was fast from all of you - I thought I would get emailed which is why I only came back now to notice and check.) I did try several ethernet cables, and tried ports that were working for other devices, when using the switch that I had bought, and no dice. As soon as I plug direct into the router, it works fine. It was this one that didn't work: smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00A121WN6/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 ...I will try one of the ones that you guys are using instead. Also I haven't updated my firmware since purchasing in August of 2016 - don't think I updated it then either so not sure which version I'm on. I guess I should update the firmware too and get to the latest remote! Thanks again. Tai PS - doc1963, that's the same one I got! Guess I need to try the firmware upgrade and remote version upgrade.
