I just purchased a used UMC-200 and I have a strange problem. I was cleaning my CD player with a disc that also checks your left and right channels to make sure you have them hooked up correctly and when it checked the left channel only, both the right and left front channels played at the same volume. When it moved to the right channel, the volume was very, very low. I am only using it in stereo mode, I have no center or rear speakers. I thought maybe there was a problem with my CD player so I went to the trim menu to check the volumes and when I increased or decreased the volume of the left front channel both speakers increased/decreased the same amount. When I increased or decreased the volume of the front right channel with the left channel trim completely down there was no change in volume at all. I checked trim levels with all the inputs I am using (analog, HDMI and coaxial digital), and they all acted the same. I have run the Emo-Q calibration and it definitely found both channels and set the distances correctly. Any ideas?

It sounds like a problem with your source CD player... or maybe the interconnect cables between it and the UMC-200. I'm going to ask the obvious question here....... When you play music, does it sound normal, or do you only have the left channel... playing out of both speakers in mono? I just purchased a used UMC-200 and I have a strange problem. Hi Keith, I thought it may be the CD player too, but it is the same with the blu ray thru HDMI and TV thru coaxial input. It seems to be playing in stereo because I have some imaging. I don't really care to change the trim levels, but it would be nice to know I'm getting the full right channel output.

Basic fault finding, start off with the simplest system that can be checked.
Have you tried an analogue input? With the UMC-200 set to to "Direct"? Disconnect the power amp/s and listen with just a pair of headphones connected.
If that sounds OK then try a digital input with the headphones.
If that sounds OK then connect just one channel to the poweramps/s.
If that sounds OK then disconnect that channel and try the other channel.
Hope that helps Cheers Gary

Basic fault finding-----like when you change out the interconnects to your amp last weekend and check Tuesday to find that instead of using the front right channel output you've used the mixed stereo output right next to it. Duh. Thanks for the help guys
