That's a low blow..........to the movie Space Balls. Space Balls rules! Without Space Balls, Tesla wouldn't have had a name for their balls to the walls speed setting in their car. LUDICROUS SPEED!

Wow, you and I are just at opposite sides of the spectrum for these movies. For me you are, as they say, way out in left field. Picking your nose maybe..... Um, did you bother to actually watch the first movie, IV, ANH? Han makes it very clear that you can't just up and go to light speed without doing navigation computations in advance. Your point is moot. Considering the entire story line of this movie was pure space junk, it's a good thing the sound and visuals were awesome. They are the only reasons to watch it. (Well, other than I think Daisy Ridley was really HOT in this one - hotter than even Natalie Portman - and that says a lot for me). What does the navigation computer have to do with using any old large mass/ship to light speed ram? Stick a navigation computer on! A lot cheaper than building a star destroyer! Also remember force awakens where they went to light speed inside of another ship with a ball monster attached to one end? He just moved a lever. Easy peasy. Did you know Kiera Knightly was the Natalie Portman impersonator in episode 1? Can I get the drugs you are taking at CVS?

I guarantee that some people would criticize no matter what, maybe they want more of the same story, then again they would criticize because it was more of the same story...... I agree with you that people will almost always criticize something like this. It must just be human nature I guess. I'm not a shrink so I don't know. It probably sounds like a cop out, but I AM a big Star Wars fan. I was 7 years old when the first movie came out and no kid in my school was a bigger fan than me. That being said I really wanted to like these new movies. I've gone into both completely avoiding the trailers, rumors, or spoilers. I've gone into them with a completely open mind with no expectations other than just wanting to see a good story. But unfortunately that's where they have both completely and utterly failed. Their story's are just bantha fodder that some 8th grade kid could have bettered. TFA was nothing more than a poorly executed rehash of ANH, simply introducing us to the next round of characters, none of which come close to the originals. The main and secondary plots in TLJ are dumber than a Dukes of Hazard TV show - waiting for them to run out of gas - please. The simple fact is that these days movies are more about glitz and glam with CGI and all those visuals and thunderous bass than they are about making a movie based around a good story. Disney is caught in the trap, and is failing Star Wars fans around the globe. I respect your opinion, but, say 99% of fans loved it, I would wonder who the other 1% would be......MAY THEY SHOULD MAKE MOVIES SO PEOPLE CAN CHANGE SCENES AS THEY GO....THEN AGAIN WHAT'S THE POINT OF MAKING IT WHAT YOU WANT IF YOU ALREADY KNOW WHAT'S NEXT....

Wow, old thread and old post I've never answered. Back alive. So, here's my reply. 99% of fans didn't love it, either of the 2 new movies. Time is saying a lot. Real Star Wars fans think they suck. The original bull crap hype is over. They sucked then, and still do. Reality had sunk in. Watch them without rose colored glasses, and you'll see. The latest installment is one of the dumbest plots written in movie history. Glam, action and cinematography was great, but the story and directing sucked balls. Really worried about the new one this month. They basically had to refilm the entire movie. And Ron Howard? He's a huge huge hit or miss. Not promising.

They've killed off all of the original cast so its not even recognizable anymore. Just another space movie with a female that wouldn't last 10 minutes if it was real life. This whole women's washing needs to stop.

And now we have a woman that just gets things done and doesn't cry about it!

It's pretty cool to take your 5 year old daughter to a film and have her see its a female lead who is the one using the force and saving people.

Or that the main Jedi like character is a woman (I guess I'm just so unchovanistic that sort of stuff never even crosses my mind. I prefer strong women myself.) And it doesn't hurt that she's smoking hot, especially in the second one. Best looking Star Wars girl ever. But the storyline she is being made to play ain't up to snuff. Its bantha fodder.

But can you believe how bad the movie must have been to fire the original director when the movie was basically done, and hire a new guy to basically reshoot the entire thing? Thats nuts.

They did the same thing with Rogue One and I thought that tired out pretty well. Also you are insane for not liking Apollo 13😀

Well, we are talking movies here. Last I checked there wasn't a way to scientifally measure whether a movie was good or not. Unlike speaker wire or interconnects. 😉😁

Wanna know another one that makes me totally crazy, I'm typically not a fan of Tom Hanks either. Of course there are expeceptions. The Road To Perdition comes to mind, as does Forest Gump, and a few others. But typically not. Perhaps that was my issue with Apollo 13. Some day maybe I'll watch it again. Funny how that is with actors.

I finally gave in and bought The Last Jedi today from Amazon for $13.00 (DVD, not the Blu Ray). After hearing/reading the mixed reviews I didn't feel motivated to watch it but I figured for $13.00 I could get it for posterity's sake and keep my collection complete, although all the others are BD, not DVD. My daughter told me it's a "Disney movie" which she didn't have to tell me meant not so good (as in hokey and made too cute and interfering with everything), but my son said it was worth watching. $13.00 on DVD to watch on a 43" plasma seems like a good compromise to me and I'll find out who I agree with.
