So when does it become okay to discuss details of the movie? I mean I don't want to start talking spoilers for people who haven't seen it, but it's been 3 weeks now. In today's day and age the Blu-ray will probably be out next week. Okay, I'll start lightly. Favorite cinematographic scene = Light Speed Ramming Collision!!! Very cool how this scene was visually shot and voiced with dead silence. I do, however, think this would have been a better story if it had been Leia doing the self-sacrificing for her people to get away, not some purple haired lady nobody knows. In hind sight, and wow, how crazy would it have been with the way things worked out in real life. Not to mention, since she was to play an even bigger part in the next movie, how things will have to be changed / rewritten now. I hope they respect her by not doing what they did with Peter Cushing (digitizing him). I would find that rude I think.

Hind sight is a wonderful thing and yes it is going to be interesting to see how they handle loosing one of the originals, not via the script. Someone who I suspect was going to play a big part in the next chapter. One of my favourite pieces of music from The Last Jedi, is the Supremacy, play it loud on a full system, gets the pulse rate up Cheers Gary

Leía would not have made sense to me story wise.

(which I was fine with btw) Actually I have a medical problem whereas any one person walks into the theater with chemicals on their person, (perfume/cologne) I have to leave the building. Violent convulsions are no fun. My problem, I get it. That’s why I haven’t read the thread, Cary on. 🤮🤮🤮

This means that if you have anything with mass like an asteroid and a light speed drive, the biggest ships have no chance. Sort of ruins the whole threat of the large ships.

And being 99.9% out of gas, how could the ship have enough juice for a jump to light speed? 🤔

worst fan rated Star Wars movie of all time. Lower than Phantom Menace and Attack of the clones. that alone should tell you what you need to know. Plot was crap, side stories were terrible, character development from TFA completely demolished, Lukes Character got handed the worst script (Mark Hamill "I disagree with everything you have written for luke"), Snoke was pawned away (Rumors say he will return for 9, but who cares? He would just be another stupid unexplained fixture in this travesty of a trilogy), General Hux was the brunt of the worst comedy ever (hes a great bad guy and a fantastic alternative to a Sith), Now we force walk through space?, Can we get a gas station? How about a failure 20 minute casino scene where we could have done some background stuff building the characters and plot? Yeah Luke is a punk in 4 or 5 but as he transitions to Jedi he becomes wise, patient, understanding of the ways of the force. He turned his father from the dark side with forgiveness and passion. Yet at the first sign of Kylo showing dark side he plots a kill on him? and then turns his back on the force? Cmon really? ? Luke is our only Jedi bridge from the original trilogy and hes just a grumpy old man with zero patience. We have a jedi origin island with old books and lore and they just brush it off like its a prop? WTF? ? I could go on and on and on and on. I am sorry, i wanted to like this movie so much. If I hadn't spent $40 on tickets, popcorn, and soda I would have walked out halfway through it. Bottom line, if you want to see Star Wars get thrown to the Sarlac pit go see TLJ. It has great visual scenes but THAT IS IT. I understand they are trying to get away from the original and prequels, but why not just post date the skywalkers or pre date Yoda? Instead they spent a whole episode mocking everything we know and love of Star Wars

I guarantee that some people would criticize no matter what, maybe they want more of the same story, then again they would criticize because it was more of the same story......

Well I ventured in to the local IMAX theater to check this film out. I left shaking my head thinking I just wasted a little over 2 hours of my time watching this film with a lack of any kind of imagination for a plot. IMO, the acting was average at best and what really disappointed me was the fact I was predicting correctly what would happen next. I can't/wouldn't/won't recommend this to any one that hasn't already seen and I certainly won't be wasting my time on any episodes to follow. Sad really as I really enjoyed epidsodes III/IV/V/VI. The best part was watching the pre-views for upcoming movies, and seeing the trailer for the next Avengers movies, Infinity War.

Wow, you predicted Mark Hamill would do a Sir Alec Guinness, I had many different alternatives before I walked in to the theatre, but not that one. Cheers Gary

I guarantee that some people would criticize no matter what, maybe they want more of the same story, then again they would criticize because it was more of the same story...... I agree with you that people will almost always criticize something like this. It must just be human nature I guess. I'm not a shrink so I don't know. It probably sounds like a cop out, but I AM a big Star Wars fan. I was 7 years old when the first movie came out and no kid in my school was a bigger fan than me. That being said I really wanted to like these new movies. I've gone into both completely avoiding the trailers, rumors, or spoilers. I've gone into them with a completely open mind with no expectations other than just wanting to see a good story. But unfortunately that's where they have both completely and utterly failed. Their story's are just bantha fodder that some 8th grade kid could have bettered. TFA was nothing more than a poorly executed rehash of ANH, simply introducing us to the next round of characters, none of which come close to the originals. The main and secondary plots in TLJ are dumber than a Dukes of Hazard TV show - waiting for them to run out of gas - please. The simple fact is that these days movies are more about glitz and glam with CGI and all those visuals and thunderous bass than they are about making a movie based around a good story. Disney is caught in the trap, and is failing Star Wars fans around the globe.

Sort of ruins the whole threat of the large ships. Wow, you and I are just at opposite sides of the spectrum for these movies. For me you are, as they say, way out in left field. Picking your nose maybe..... Um, did you bother to actually watch the first movie, IV, ANH? Han makes it very clear that you can't just up and go to light speed without doing navigation computations in advance. Your point is moot. Considering the entire story line of this movie was pure space junk, it's a good thing the sound and visuals were awesome. They are the only reasons to watch it. (Well, other than I think Daisy Ridley was really HOT in this one - hotter than even Natalie Portman - and that says a lot for me).

What does the navigation computer have to do with using any old large mass/ship to light speed ram? Stick a navigation computer on! A lot cheaper than building a star destroyer! Also remember force awakens where they went to light speed inside of another ship with a ball monster attached to one end? He just moved a lever. Easy peasy. Did you know Kiera Knightly was the Natalie Portman impersonator in episode 1?
