Okay until the HDMI V3 board is available I need to connect my XBOX One X directly to the LG TV which I'm okay with (as a temporary solution). However I can't get the Audio Return Channel feature to work from the LG TV to the XMC-1. No sound at all... So as a last resort I connected an Optical Cable but this gives me only stereo (or Dolby Digital which I try to avoid as much as possible). And also automatic time delay correction between audio and video is not possible.
The LG TV claims to sent out DTS and even Dolby Digital TrueHD from the HDMI connector.
So my questions is; Did somebody manages to get the audio from the LG TV to the XMC-1 via HDMI working? (Maybe using an other HDMI input on the XMC-1)

I couldn't get ARC to work with my late model Panasonic plasma, nor can I get it to work with my new Samsung panel. ARC to me is just infuriating!!! I haven't even tried with the LG after having so much trouble with my other sets.

I hear you guys, and ARC is a crap azzzz POS and its aggravating. I read a lot of threads at AVS and samsung really has issue's with ARC . Keith posted a test you can do to see if ARC is working on the XMC. I had it all working and then put in the update and did a reset and started fresh and it did take a few cracks at it but i got it working again. I find the tv apps to be a pita ,much easier to just watch netflix on the xbox or stand alone streamer. Page 3 of the above link has the test and comments from keith

Thanks Socketman for the link. I'll first try the Loopback test and then try another HDMI cable...

Thanks for all the suggestions this is what I did until now: * Did the CEC Loopback test as described in the topic => CEC loopback passed * Enabled Simplink and HMDI Audio Return on LG TV * Enabled ARC and CEC (with Audio return active) on XMC-1 * Verified if HDMI cable is connected HDMI2 of TV (ARC HDMI) and HDMI1 output of XMC-1 * Powered TV and XMC-1 fully down (disconnected power mains) and switched them back on again * Selected HDMI ARC channel for audio => No audio although audio information line states PCM 2.0 * Replaced HDMI cable with a brand new HDMI cable conforming to the newest specs. * Powered TV and XMC-1 fully down (disconnected power mains) and switched them back on again * Selected HDMI ARC channel for audio => No audio although audio information line states PCM 2.0 * On XMC-1 moved HDMI cable to HDMI2 output * Powered TV and XMC-1 fully down (disconnected power mains) and switched them back on again * Selected HDMI ARC channel for audio => No audio although audio information line states PCM 2.0 I tested the CEC functionality and this works. When enabled if I press the power down button on the TV remote also the XMC-1 is powered off.. So CEC works but that is just the functionality I don't need with my Harmony remote.... So now anxiously waiting for the HDMI V3 board. I order to have a superb picture AND audio... Now I need to watch the UHD Blu-Ray discs in stereo sound. Not nice.

The LG TV claims to sent out DTS and even Dolby Digital TrueHD from the HDMI connector. Just some background Roger ; we need Earc; a feature of hdmi2.1; to send lossless multichannel like dd truehd from a streaming service for example . At a guess the LG when accepting a multichannel dd truehd bitstream can be set to decode to lpcm so the signal gets downmixed to 2ch pcm .. Earc is supposed to be more reliable than ARC thankfully Its also possibly backwards compatible with 2.0b depending on its programming so theres an outside chance /long shot the new board is compatible . Ide ring emo maybe and ask as hdmi.org is a bit equivocal

The information if could found about the supported HDMI version of the LG OLED55C7V is HDMI 2.0b... Which doesn't support eARC but only ARC. However in the manual they claim that via HDMI ARC they can sent out Dolby Digital Plus / Atmos!! On the other hand DTS HD-MA audio input is only sent out as DTS via HDMI ARC. Well a soon as I have the HDMI V3 board I really don't care because for watching TV I'm okay with stereo.

Roger, if you have the updated (i.e. v2) HDMI-board with one UHD in and one out, then use HDMI out 2 on the XMC-1, which is the one with ARC (and HDCP 2.2).

I havent used my ARC for a while so i just went down and tried it and it is still functional.I checked my setting and i have simplelink on and audio out set to HDMI arc/optical on the LG and CEC is on for the XMC and my input is set as hdmi arc. I recall i had to use a different cable than i originally had, not sure if this is becasue the tv is 4k or not but at present i am using a Redmere cable with has a booster built in,thats about all i can think of. Not sure why your not up and running, what web os are you using.

i think mine is like 3.0 or some such not the latest though we are suppose to get it. I would try a different cable, like i said previously i ended up with a Redmere enabled cable . Stand alone players like the oppo 203 have dual out's whcih i found handy.

To get ARC working with my LG TV and Onkyo receiver I had to configure the ARC HDMI port on the TV as "Home theatre".
