You'd think people would learn, but hope springs eternal. +1. And this is exactly the difference between kool aid and reality.

Time for some honesty on my part, or stupidy on my part, what does this acronym stand for? Just asking my P&G friend. P&G, the official acronyms company.😉😀 In Before The Lock. I asked the same question a week or two ago .😉

I asked the same question a week or two ago .😉 Awe schitt. Definitely my stupidity, or lack of memory. I've asked this exact question before. Come on guys, lets not get this one locked down. Please. I know not everyone agrees with me on stuff, but I really do just like to discuss things as adults. I've faultered sometimes I know, but, I'm FAR from perfect. But I think I've done my fair share of discussing this product both positively and negatively (for my needs), but I think it has all been done with a certain amount of respect. I just don't want this to get shut down due to the HDMI or Emo promises thing.I have definite opinions there, but this thread is about the product itself, not promises or timing.

Come on guys, lets not get this one locked down. this thread is about the product itself, not promises or timing. You would think its not to much to ask Bonzo ; I for one am more interested in the specifications of the coming XMC1 gen3 than something we now is coming a lot sooner and already know what its specs are ie hdmi2.0b hdcp2.2 .Timing is at this point speculative ; facts are better.. The openness alluded to in the last podcast is logically tied to the RMC1 and XMC1 gen3 you can only hope..my 2c

Just to be clear, I'm not asking for it to be locked. There were just a couple comments heading in the same direction that ends up with locked threads that led me to post that. It would be great if this thread could avoid the posts that lead to locks. I am excited to see what all the gen 3 brings. Mark

Wouldn't the easiest way to calm this thread down and get things back on track be for Dan to simply give us the news, promised for a few days ago?
Alternatively, I'm in the camp who reminds them to simply not "make a promise about updating about previous promises" until you are ready to release some information. How hard would that be? It would certainlly make things calmer for us, AND for them.
Hasn't anyone learned from the past? One would have hoped so.

... Come on guys, lets not get this one locked down. Please. ... I don't think this thread is in any current danger of being shut down. It's mostly stayed civil and hasn't degenerated into people attacking each other endlessly. We'll just need to practice our Zen. Breathe in, Breathe out. Enjoy the day that's in front of you. Pet a Puppy. It is National Puppy Day after all ... Casey

Watch what they do not what they say... Exactly. That's the whole point. They said they would do something, and so far they haven't. We'll see.

What’s news to me is how Emotiva is out of the loop with the hardware supplier’s production release schedule. Now, in all fairness I have never worked in this industry so maybe it’s common standard.
So it seems like Analog Devices stayed mum about the production start date of the new Sharc chips until a week before they started so Emotiva was forced to announce the delay. This is after announcing in CES that the RMC-1 was going to be out by March. Then...this is what I care about- the XMC-1 gen3 will follow shortly thereafter.
Does Analog Devices have a forum? I would like to ask them why they can’t just give Emotiva a courtesy call in advance so Emotiva can promptly notify its customers that there is another delay? Not cool - thanks to them, it looks like what fall/winter for the XMC-1 gen3? Crazy!!!

Analog Devices is an Engineering Firm producing products, just like Emotiva. Their product is an "ASIC SoC" (Application Specific Integrated Circuit System on a Chip). They have Development Engineers, Design Verification Engineers, Quality Assurance Engineers, Project Managers, etc. The whole enchilada. It's likely that Emotiva was given early BETA Samples of this ASIC, and probably other customers as well. While Emotive was working with these BETA chips, Emotiva probably encountered lots of issues. Some of those issues would have been in Emotiva's code, others might be chip bugs. For the chip bugs, if they were discovered early enough and the fix simple enough, those fixes might make it into the next "spin" of the chip for production fabrication. Other bugs get documented as errata with suggested work arounds, etc.
And it goes on and on and on.
Analog Devices is struggling to meet their commitments and schedules just like any other Engineering Firm. It's likely that the original schedule for the chip was to go into production much earlier. But bugs that Emotiva and other customers found delayed the product. Especially if there's no good work around and it's a critical function.

Based on this, I guess I’ll be waiting a while. I don’t mind waiting though - being that it’s almost April. Expecting it to be released in 2018 may be a long shot. If so, I may as wait until HDMI 2.1 is available for this unit. 😊

The wait may be a while, but I think 2018 is very safe. My current guess is June-August time frame based solely on the Analog Devices likely availability of production parts. There could be other issues, but this is the part that Dan and Lonnie identified as the long pole in the tent.
