Our distributor refuses to acknowledge this defect. He says it's normal. But as this may be the norm, if this noise prevents listen to music!? Can officials of the Emotiva comment on this situation? Where do you live? I would just call Emotiva customer service, they are great to work with. Thanks for help! I live in Russia. We have several cases with the same problem. I also met complaints about this defect in Europe. But our distributor does not want to solve this problem. Maybe you will be able to draw the attention of representatives of the Emotiva, this defect in the amplifier A-300.

Call Emotiva and direct them to the video you posted. There is no way an amp should make that kind of noise. When you "turn it up" does the amp (fans) still make the noise? It could be a temperature senosr / circuit issue, and the fans are fine, just not being commanded correctly.

It could be a temperature senosr / circuit issue, and the fans are fine, just not being commanded correctly. This noise appears after 15-20 minutes of operation of the amplifier at medium volume. When I turn off the amplifier in standby mode, the noise disappears. This defect has already been found in five amplifiers purchased in the last month. I wrote in support of Emotiva and put my video.

Same fan issue here. At low amp load, the fans are irritatingly noisy at my listening position 10 feet away. It seems that many of these amps have this issue, which is either a design flaw or a batch of bad fans. It sure would be nice to hear from Emotiva on this issue...

drive.google.com/file/d/1xV1S8VOrWQbxVZD-q0daUWYMcX1pWKLv/view?usp=drivesdkHello! Bought yesterday Emotiva a-300, began to listen to it and after an hour of his work at medium volume, inside the amplifier there was noise. This noise comes from the fans. The fans themselves do not spin, but only twitch in place, and their motors make a nasty noise and squeak, which is clearly audible, especially in the pauses between tracks. What's it? Is this the marriage of a particular amp? I attach a link to the video with the recorded defect. Sounds like you got a bad amp. The fans sound like they are locked up (it's weird for both of them to be doing that though). I have the A-300 and I have never heard any sound like that come from it. Call Emotiva and I'm sure they will swap it out for you. Update, my A-300 did end up making this same noise. I was gone for a few days and I think my cleaning lady turned on the unit and I'm sure it stayed on for about three days. When I got home it was making that same sound. The unit was warm, but not hot. After it was off for a few hours I sound went away. I have not heard it since.,

The noise you're hearing is not a problem... and the fans are not stuck.
The fans in the A-300 are thermostatically controlled.... so they start running slowly, when the amp reaches a certain temperature, and then go faster if it continues to get warmer. However, because of how the temperature control works, over a certain narrow temperature range, the fans may "start to think about spinning" before actually turning on. And sometimes, when they do, you may notice a very faint noise, or even an occasional twitch of the fan blades.
This doesn't happen very often, but when it does it is perfectly normal, and nothing to worry about.

I also have a problem with Emotiva A-300. With the passage of time, at a medium volume level, noise appears from the electronics - squeaking with a changing frequency of sound. The coolers were never turned on or twitched.

It looks to me like everybody complaining of fan noise has issues. I have seen similar previous reports. I would call Emotiva and get this taken care of. I know I wouldn't accept an amp that makes those noises.

Today I sent an amplifier to my Moscow seller. I will write later about the results.

The amplifier repaired or returned the money? I am thinking of trying Stealth PA-1 instead of Emotiva A-300 for my Audiovector QR3.

At least you'll know if you hear noised emanating from them there would definitely be a problem. Besides we have some solid members here that swear by them.

I don't get it. Additional complexity. FANS and the control circuitry and power to 'em.
VS
Enough Heat Sink to support power and bias levels.

Why not just have bigger heat sinks? @keithl ? I assume it's to do with cost. FWIW they used to have bigger heatsinks and no fans on the UPA-2 But on the A-300 you can see there is a noticeable difference. They did bring the UPA-2 back in the form of the XPA-200 and it still had heatsinks but at $500. So I imagine the A-300 would sell not as well at $500.

AB amps MUST have some form of heat sink. Can't do without, unless you are using some novel full-time cooling solution.
Maybe use one of the water cooler systems from a COMPUTER? But One Leak and you are completely Screwed.
AB amps designed to run 1/3 power (worst case, according to stereophile) for long time periods will be most heavily built.
For AB amps? 'Power to Weight' ratio is a good measure to consider. But for high powered amps a shipping nightmare.

Yep. I received my A-300 in November and now it's making some crazy noise that sounds like a dial-up modem. I'm not sure if it's a fan motor or something else because the fans aren't spinning at all when it's making the noise. It sounds just like the videos posted earlier in this thread. I contacted CS and they are taking it in for repair. Nice CS and good warranty buy quite frankly it sucks to be without my stereo system for a few weeks. It almost sounds like the fans are trying to spin up but can't for some reason.

This is very sad. The sound and the price for it are excellent. But something is not properly designed. My amplifier A-300 is now under repair, waiting for an answer. While listening to another system. Going to buy Stealth PA-1.
