I highly suggest everyone doing the DIY board install, read the instructions that come with the board at least twice before installing.

I will repeat something I posted about a month ago, the first person to actually have a V3 board installed and producing a picture, should open an ‘Official V3 HDMI Board” thread. No placeholders, or thread jumpers, an actual user — so a beta tester could do it now. We need a new place to discuss the use of this board, how it performs, what gear people are using with it, any installation issues or tips. A fresh start where we can talk about the real thing. Good idea! I'll start one when I get home from work.

Actually the install is pretty straightforward. Turn on unit, update firmware. When it goes into standby, turn off power, install new board and enjoy. Lonnie

which is LITERALLY just unplg and re plug into the same slot...sooo easy Not exactly. There is also a firmware update to do first, and if it doesn't work you can't regress. Gotta be careful of static electricity too. computers are susceptible to static as well so same difference. My SOP is to put it on the wooden kitchen table and linoleum or fake wood floor , no slippers or carpet ground myself to the case and your good to go. Examine the board your putting in and acknowledge all its connectors and screw holes then proceed .

Although covered very clearly in the instructions, I will reiterate here that one should not update the firmware until ready to install the board.
The new firmware will not work with the old board. So don't update firmware then turn on the unit thinking you can postpone the board installation.
So install firmware first. Install the board immediately after (or at least before turning on the unit from the back).

Thought it might be around the other way. That's exactly what the instructions say. Install the firmware first with the XMC in lowest power mode (ie not Video On Standby) and when the XMC shuts down, do NOT turn it back on. Disconnect everything and install the new board and only then should you turn it back on.

I called and ordered mine about half an hour before they closed for the day. The friendly lady I spoke to suggested that they've sent out a number of them today, and of course they are working on upgrading and shipping the ones that were sent back to be updated by Emotiva. She said it might be next week by the time I get mine shipped out, which is fine by me. I'm *hoping* for earlier, but there are quite a few people who ordered before me, so I can wait. Well, it looks like Emotive once again messed up on dates. I was told it would ship next week, but it shipped today instead. Why can't these folks get it right?
