I would have the SM55 play all day and night for a couple of days at low volume, will it take longer? I will not be in a rush.... Put the two speakers face-to-face & wire them out of phase (i.e. the positive speaker wire goes to the red terminal on one speaker, and to the black terminal on the other). Then play them LOUDLY for two days straight (since the two are out of phase, they'll mostly cancel out & you should hear little). Then try a serious audition. Crutchfield has opened box SM55s on sale, it would not be a bad idea to get those, right? They probably are broken in...... |

Well I can tell you Crutchfield will back anything up better than almost anybody. If you get the scratch & dent pair and don't like them, they'll take them back no questions asked. |
