I've been playing so much vinyl I wore out my stylus! Started hearing some sibilance near the end of records. Time to make another order!

Order placed! I use a nagaoka mp-110, not many places in the U.S. carry them. I was tempted to go the eBay route, but they're all from Japan so I worry about fakes. That and the fact that it will take up to 2 weeks to receive it. I highly recommend the nagaoka though, really stepped up the quality of my vinyl listening, and the price is palatable.

Got the new stylus installed and broken in and all is well in the worldof vinyl. Unfortunately when I tried to use the coax input for the first time (first with a CD player and next with t.v. output) I got zero output from the pt100. I tried different cables to no avail. Just emailed support, looks like my preamp will be taking a trip to Tennessee.

Pro-Ject Audio and Music Hall make some in the affordable end. The NAD phono premap WAS reasonably well regarded, but don't forget that NAD doesn't actually manufacture anything. They are designers in office space and 'sub' everything out. Parasound has the Zphono at an affordable price. Several other pre's in the sub-400$ range, which I don't think is all that bad considering it should last for decades... If you want to go TUBE, you can always spend in the 2000$ range or maybe a Bottlehead Kit. bottlehead.com/phono-preamplifier-kits/I suspect the EMO offering is more of a side-motion from what you had. Next up? SETUP is key. Cart / Tonearm matching is critical, too.

Got the coax input figured out. Seems you have to cycle (turn off and on) my DVD player after making changes. Still haven't solved the tv, but that's a cheap seiki model so the output may just be cheap. As far as an outboard phono pre, that may very well be my next upgrade.
