After a month of streaming I bumped up against my 1TB cap via Comcast/Xfinity ( and we were out of town for a week). I might have to pay $50 for unlimited.... which is still diving me money over what I was paying with DirectTv. A couple questions...... If I watch a 4K netflix program via a 4k FireTv device on a 1080 tv is it still using the same amount of data as if I was watching it on my 4K panel? I have been watching a lot of 4K material, it looks fantastic, but some shows I could do with out 4K if it saved me some data. Any tips on saving data? I turned off auto updating on some devices thinking that may help a tad??

I just signed up for the Direct Tv Now and paid 3 months and got a free Apple Tv 4k. Thought it was a pretty good deal. Will likely cancel after the three months and use the Apple device for Youtube TV as my amazon fire TV will not stream Youtube TV. Also, I've read that you can have 6 different youtube tv accounts? This is unreal, meaning you can share with your family members and they have their own login and do not see your downloads or what you've streamed etc. Just ended my playstation vue membership as well. Will report back how Direct Tv Now is...

Netflix is notorious for jumping into the next episode even if nobody is watching. That, of course, eats up tons of your cap for nothing. That's another concern I have with streaming. I feel like Cox here is going to get their money one way or another. If everyone dumps their Cox cable, Cox will just pump up their Internet rates to compensate. It's not like there is any competition (at least anyone with bandwidth to stream). Same thing that happened with wireless. We get free text/minutes, but who cares? They all jacked up data costs and my bill is the same. -tm

The Xfinity cap here is 1024 with two free overage months and we came close in March. There's no other broadband option in this neighborhood.
