Greetings from Sunny (but still cold...) Milwaukee area -
My interests here are currently more along the 2-Channel / Stereo line
I have VERY eclectic tastes in music (my collection is quite a smattering of nearly everything) except maybe Opera with Sopranos wailing-away (just not "my thang"...)
I mainly got involved after seeing some Emo at my local dealer (thanks to Dave at Audio Emporium for turning me on to Emotiva!)
I'm one of those people who would rather have a few "quality" items, rather than a pile of cheap stuff
From what I'm seeing - the Emotiva equipment "checks all/most of the boxes" in what I'm looking for as I update and upgrade my system
I have a background in Electronics (Field Engineer working with Low-Voltage Building Systems)
I've done everything from Parking Gates to Fire Alarm to Sound Reinforcement Systems (Attended SynAud Con back in about 2000)
I like to think that I have a SOLID enough knowledge of the "basics" to be able to separate the Good Stuff from the B.S, (at least, most of the time)
I'm not one of those fortunate people who can cut a check for a 5-K System in one bite - so, I'm upgrading my system like the ol' Johnny Cash Song, except that It's DEFINITELY costing me more than a dime. (Started with new Speakers and Sub last year - Added an XPS-2 Gen 3 about a month ago...)
Next Up = Send CD Collection out to get converted to FLAC / ALC, then Next Emo = XPS-1 and maybe ERC-3 or Streamer of some sort...
Just received a few CDs from the Jazz at Lincoln Center website - really enjoying "United We SWING", "Handful of Keys" (in my car) and "The Bronx Pyramid"
