I just recently started having a problem with my losing connection with my umc200 intermittently after the unit has been on have about 2 hours of use(it did not matter the input). I unplugged the HDMI output and plugged my Xbox directly into the projector and it seemed to stop. My guess is that power supply might be going bad. I've been waiting for the XMC2 or even RMC. The question is should I even get it fixed or buy something of a "stop gap" like a Yamaha 779? I'm sure my umc200 is out of warranty.

If it's the power supply, it was a really quick turn-around for me when I had the UMC-200. Not much to the repair, but I doubt it would cost much at all. I'd call on Monday, and (if it makes you feel any better) you're not missing much with the latest Star War's.

I've not heard of the power supply board causing connection issues, it's more like it just doesn't fully boot up when there's an issue. When you say " losing connection" is that input connection or output connection? Audio or video or both? Does it stop working with all types of inputs, HDMI, RCA, toslink? If it's just HDMI have you tried swapping the HDMI cables? Just like all cable they do get oxidation and other contamination at the connectors, get lose connections and have internal wire issues.
Cheers Gary

But, calling them is still your best bet to getting a solution or finding a new path. Perhaps it is a very simple solution and you can watch Star Wars in its full splendor. If not, at least you are closer to a resolution faster. Mark

Powered it back off and back on and it seemed fine... Also...last night after the HDMI dropped several times; I connected the audio through the optical cable and the audio seemed fine. I'm going to try it again tonight to see if the HDMI drops again. EDIT: the CEC was on for whatever reason. I just that off and hope that helps.

It could be the HDMI cable but you will need to be a bit more specific on what your setup is like. Try to set the output on the UMC to 720p as a test. (or even 1080i if you have a 1080p projector) If it then becomes stable, its most likely your cables.

Xbox 360 via wmc(1) Xbox One(2) Chromecast (3) Wii (4) inputs--} umc200 --} benQ ht1075(via about 25' HDMI cable)
It seemed to happened after about 30 minutes. Once it started happening; I tried inputs 1-3; but it stopped happening when I plugged the 360 directly into the benQ.
EDIT: I tried to emotiva today but they didn't open until after I was at work and closed before I left 😒

The first thing I would look at is energy saver settings in the PC. If that thing is going to sleep, it could completely bunk your HDMI chain and force the UMC to resync everything.

Oh...I think you misinterpreted me. WMC is running on my Xbox 360. There is no PC in the mix(at least this setup). Sorry for the confusion. I'm able to connect without issue: Xbox 360(via HDMI) to the benQ and Xbox 360(via optical) to the umc. This is obviously not ideal since it's only lossy audio and I have to disconnect the cables if I want different souce(I Xbox one) and cannot use HDMI only sources(ie Chromecast)

Have you tried removing all HDMI inputs and just leaving the HDMI from UMC to the Projector?
Try that, and see if it drops the sync. Once you've confirmed that works, connect one source at a time and test.
One of your sources, or the projector itself, or the UMC is bunking the handshake. Add one device at a time to narrow it down.

I called emotiva today and explained what was happening. They suggested I send it in for service; but it's going to be at least $140 to get it fixed. I'm not sure it's really worth it. I reloaded the fireware a few times and did a factory reset. A plus is that the original handshake issue seems to be solved; buy if the unit cold boots I get the following message: youtu.be/82AUuManZ7o

Somewhat similar issues that were resolved with the power supply replacement last year. I think my UMC-200 had a mere few months of warranty remaining so I got lucky.
I really hope there's nothing else that fails for a while as I like it a lot. I'll get an XMC-1 at some point but I don't need balanced inputs and I have a mere 2 sources so the simplicity of the UMC-200 is perfect.

I bought mine second hand and the guy never transferred the warranty so I'm SOL on that front. I planned on getting a XMC2 and my wife even gave me the go ahead on a RMC1(probably way more than I need so I will probably opt for the lessor of the 2). I do have the lifetime 25% off. From the podcast; it seems like the XMC2 probably won't start shipping until late summer at the earliest.

Im new here but own a UMC-200 that started off having handshake issues. Then errors that was resolved by restarting the unit. Suddenly some "osd issues" then other messages... Dident get to write them down before itjust turned dark.... I get a orange powerbutton light. When i turn it on it briefly gets blue and remote trigger turns the amps on, but it goes dark right away...
Maby same issue? Im trying to get the warranty from previous owner...
