I'm wondering, is the BasX speaker line being discontinued? They're on sale. Are there new ones coming out?

In the past, Emotiva would lower prices to sell the remaining stock of items. So perhaps that is what is going on here.

At least for now... we are discontinuing the BasX line of passive speaker. Note that this does NOT include the BasX subs.... just the passive speakers. I'm wondering, is the BasX speaker line being discontinued? They're on sale. Are there new ones coming out?

I scratched my head when BasX speakers were launched because the Airmotiv line is at a pretty sweet price point.
I would like to see the powered Airmotiv relaunched with Bluetooth 5 and Chromecast audio built in along with a remote control. A user should be able to choose to disable the LED as well.

So now its the entire line of speakers, except for subs. Next week you will include the subs, and a week later it will be electronics. You are a very intelligent reasonable man. Do you not see how many of us take this as "string on" BS? Come on.

Well, in fairness - the email did say they were discontinuing the BasX LCR and Sat's. That's the entire speaker line other than subs. Net, Keith is not sharing anything different than the email or other information said. Mark

Airtmotiv speakers are allot of speaker. The T2 is a favorite of mine, and I don't even own them. Yet. What the actual?! This speaker to me is a game changer, and makes me wonder why the heck would I need to spend more for. I can impress me and my fellow listener with these. Now space and other factors holding me back a bit. But Airmotivs rock.

My guess - it's the China connection and the looming trade war.

Hi Bonzo, In a past life I worked with a man who regularly flew round the world advising top retailers on how to better their business. One of his top lessons is, when something doesn't move, don't let it sit there. Lower the price as far as you have to to dump it. Carrying stuff that's not selling distracts both you and your customers from what's hot. And the hot stuff is where the profit is. It's called "cutting your losses." Despite being one of the oldest bits of business wisdom, to many people it seems counterintuitive. They hold onto whatever they've invested in, even when it's not going anywhere, rather than free up their capital to invest in stuff that generates quicker return. What Emotiva's showing in dumping these speakers -- which were at a price point where it's hard to compete with, say, similar discounted Polks -- is that they're smart merchants. Also, I grabbed a pair.

The Airmotiv speaker line IS slightly more expensive than the BasX passive speaker line. BUT (and this is a J-Lo sized BUT), the Airmotivs are 10x the speakers that the BasX ones are. The BasX ones, IMHO, are a step up from "home theater in a box" plastic units but not much more. The Airmotivs, by comparison, are competitive with the big boys at many times their price. Now that said, the BasX subwoofers are KILLER values for the buck, and it would amaze me if the subs aren't absolutely flying off the shelves (they should be, for their price and performance).
So were it my money, BasX surrounds (for width, height, side, and rear) would be fine, but for front right and left audio, spend a little extra and get the Airmotivs! And in fact, if you can afford it, I'd really consider the Airmotiv center too. YMMV

He bought two sets of the Sat speakers for surrounds and sides and is looking to get the Airmotiv for LRC.

Looks like the T1's are suffering the same fate.

Looks like the T1's are suffering the same fate. Yep, T1's, S10, S12 and the S15 too. As well as the Stealth 8. The Stealth 8 has been around quite some time, and as Dan pointed out, they will be putting out another powered series with some different features, so it sort of makes sense. But the rest? They have most certainly not been around all that long. What's that give the flagship T2, 3 more months? Without trying to create a big hub-bub, I certainly find Emotiva's sales model puzzling, to say the least. Like a ship without a rudder IMO.

For me, discontinuing products like that affects the perception of the longevity of the product. After the 5 or 3 years of warranty coverage runs out there is no way to fix the product by the manufacturer (saying that it's a discontinued item). Maybe for a low ticket product is fine but a set of monoblocks or a big sub is a big deal IMO.

Which is sad because I have a pair of T1 and they're great. Seems like $500 is really where they should have been priced, but I imagine the T0's at $500 are more profitable than the T1's at $500. $700 has stiffer competition and it's close to $1k where there are lots of options. I also wonder how much the angled looks hurt sales; some found them attractive but it *seemed* like more thought they were ugly.
