Current setup:
Everything in Reference Stereo Mode Optical and Coax inputs only (don't really use analog inputs) Balanced outputs to Stealth 8's no subwoofer
Have tried : - changing inputs - factory reset - confirming settings (front speaker outputs set to Large, etc)
All of a sudden, system is sounding very harsh. Sibilance like hell. Listening to Doug MacLeod (broad dynamic range recordings), sounds compressed when range is tested.
Thoughts?
Has anyone seen this before? Was sounding great 2 weeks ago, and boom..... sounds like crap.
Thanks Anoop

I would save all your settings and then do a factory reset and see if that helps.

Getting any background noise or hum when the source is not playing? A faulty loudspeaker driver could also do you in. Bill

What is the source you are using. Have you tried a different source, garbage in garbage out.

Although to have the internal amps of both Stealth 8’s seems unlikely..... possible, but unlikely. Both channels sound the same.

Oops my bad (powered monitors) On the XMC try “reset all filters” perhaps a frequency glitch. Also 4.1 firmware if you haven’t yet. I found some settings would not remain persistent without it. Bill

Nick might be on to something. Any new devices, household stuff, plugged into the same circuit. I had a problem (low level hummm) when my son would plug one of his iProdcuts in to a circuit shared by my amp. A CMX-2 cured that.

Good point Dirac or no curious which way you listen. When I take out Dirac at least at my place it sounds leaner and some cases harsher.

How does it sound through headphones?
If it's good there, it's probably not an XMC-1 problem.

I’ve had issues with my ATV before, in terms of sound quality issues. If you google it, you’ll see it can be very irritating and has been for me.

Me too - Apple TV is hit or miss for me. Roku has better AQ for me.
