As I posted in the other thread... I took about 5 inches of speaker wire and made a hook.. pulled (gently) the standoff into place and put in the screw. Worked great.

I was able to loosen one standoff but the other would not, though it turned. I had a fried touch the case and put the screw in while I reached under to pull the standoffs and align the holes. - Rich

Cross post for the other thread: I installed the V3 board and some observations: - Handshaking seems slower 5 seconds or more
- 1080p sources work well
- Menus nagivation seems slower, 2-3 seconds before responding
- HDR works well
- Dolby Vision does not work from the ATV4K nor from the Oppo UDP-205. The source reports DV, but the XMC-1 reports SDR as does the LG C7 OLED.
. This has been reported to Emotiva. - Rich I cannot get DV to work through the V3 board to the LG C7 OLED. I am running the Korean .90 firmware which largely fixes the DV unstable black issues. Anyone have DV working? - Rich

I have my XMC-1 pulled back out and ready to re-install. So hopefully this won’t be an issue.

Here is the "Installation Procedure for XMC-1 HDMI 2.0b Video Upgrade Board". I had to upload it into my Dropbox because the file is 17MB. HDMI V3 Board Upgrade Installation

During the firmware upgrade, has anyone run into the error "err: init HDSB82" being displayed on the XMC's front panel? I was not on the latest firmware before I tried to upgrade to v5.0.

It's not mentioned on the V3 Board Upgrade instructions but if my memory serve me well, I think Loonie mentioned that to upgrade to the New 5.0 firmware (the one provided in the memory stick with the V3 Board Upgrade Kit) you have to be running in your XMC-1 the latest firmware which is 4.1.

I went through the process and am watching TV on a LG OLED E6P right now. I use ARC for the kids to watch their Amazon Prime shows before bed, but the ARC wasn't working after changing the board. I watched the shows with the TV speakers to get the kids down. Here's how I got arc to work: I verified that the TV had Simplink on and ARC out. Audio to the XMC wouldn't work through several power cycles (TV, XMC, TV and XMC...). Then I had the TV playing ARC and pulled the HDMI from one output and switched to the other output to force the handshake. The audio came right up and I watched Shimmer and Shime for a few minutes to celebrate I like the new border-less menus and will test 4K from a Ultra HD Blu Ray when it wont iritate the wife watching American Ninja. I didn't have 4.1 installed because I didn't want to mess with the working ARC. I had to loosen the standoffs and use a scribe to nudge the posts over so the screws would go in. I think it added 5 minutes. Overall, it was a 45 minute process to change out the board, taking my time and removing the QSC amp , which was rack mounted above the XMC. I'm super happy with the result and glad I waited. I think I checked this board twice a day since the begining of the year. I have to say, if the 4k works (and I have no reason to believe it wont) I'm all set for the next couple of years. Thanks Emotiva!

Update - I rolled with the error and changed the HDMI board anyways. After installing the new board, the XMC booted, the error was not present, but the menu system was slow and under Menu -> Information -> HDMI Version was blank. So I did a factory reset (because why not) and reinstalled v5.0 firmware. The reinstall went well, the menu system is faster and the Information -> HDMI Version is showing 3.0 18/06/15. Looks like it worked.

We need to get an definitive position on this, because if it doesn’t say you need to be on a specific version before going to 5.0, then you should be able to upgrade from any previous version. KeithL? lonnie? Is there a minimum version requirement to install 5.0?

Just finished the install. The only issues was taking off the lid completely. I was able of lift it up but unable to remove it but eventually figured out that there is a lip in the front center that you need to push down and up to clear the tab opt to remove the lid. The ribbon cables will come out if you pull and wiggle side to side. And after replacing the board, the center 2 screws holding the board down don’t exactly line up without reaching underneath to align the holes. The right one as you are looking from the rear of the XMC is especially harder to line up so make sure that you loosen that brass standoff iot to get enough play to wiggle that standoff into place. Now for the ops check. Good luck everyone.

I then got DV with the ATV4K. I am using bluejean hdmi cables and OLEDC7. The only issue is the audio with the oppo in all modes I get PCM 2.0 and never get the encoding. I was able to get 5.1 with Blu-ray in PS3. I may need to mess around with the settings tomorrow and be XMC when I get home from work. Thank you Emotiva for the board. I like switching between oppo, ATV, ERC-3, and PS3 without having to change inputs on the tv. It’s like a breath of fresh air again:)

Knowing that you’re getting DV is a big relief. Just a tip on the Oppo... make sure that “Secondary Audio” hasn’t accidentally been set to “On” (it should be “off”) and that “HDMI Audio” is set to “Bitstream”. Getting nothing but PCM 2.0 is a classic symptom of having “Secondary Audio” enabled. Also make sure there’s no cable still plugged into the second (Audio Only) HDMI output. Sometimes, the best solution (especially after all of the workarounds you’ve had to do) is just to do a complete “factory reset” on the Oppo and start fresh...
