Any word on the next "official" FW release? I loaded 5.1 but not 5.1a so far but have not had much time with the system yet (busy weekend). Nor have I tried a DV disc yet (picked up another 4K disc that I think has it; I only have 2-3 UHD discs so far). I had an hour or so Saturday night but spent it debugging my network -- a power outage apparently disrupted my media room WAP and it took me a while to get it working again (analog guys and computer networks, oil and water, etc.) We have a backup generator and the system is on a local UPS but the UPS battery died, natch, so system power glitched (at least it wasn't on at the time).
I keep waiting thinking a regular customer release of 5.1 or 5.2 is coming soon... I might go ahead and do the 5.1a install since it seems to work for everybody, or at least breaks no new things.
Side note: My Oppo updated without a hitch once the network was restored, as did my LG C7, but again I have not tried a DV disc. Everything else seems to be working OK, though the display was a little funky on a older DVD -- the center line said DD 5.1 and I was clearly getting surround sound, but the top line of the XMC-a's display said "Dolby PLX IIx Stereo", weird. The Oppo is set to bitstream everything.
My C7 seems to be black (dark) with no signal to the XMC-1 but I have not had the room completely dark lately, will have to check that tonight (or sometime when I am down there again).

Very interesting and disturbing issues, Sage. Did you send an email to Lonnie detailing these two issues? I don't have his email address, but I will call emotiva tomorrow. v3support@emotiva.com

The weird thing is that every movie that I have on my vudu app on the ATV is now dolby vision and it has the yellow OSD. When I watch the same movie on the oppo, it reports all the right HDR settings with the white OSD. I like the different color codes of the OSD that yellow is DV and white is HDR. Double check your video setting on the ATV. The Apple default is to upsample everything to 1080P DV which will cause color errors on non DV signals. The correct setting is to let the ATV switch to the correct format as it comes in

I haven't get DV neither from Oppo 203, nor from ATV 4K. The ATV 4K get to see DV in my Sony X930E and I can switch to DV but ATV 4K menu looks washed out and XMC-1 shows SDR. The X930E shows SDR as well but with brightness maxed out. I did try plugging my ATV 4K directly to the TV with 8' and 6' Monoprice Certified Premium and MediaBridge 15' HDMI Cable and with the three HDMI cables I get proper DV in my X930E. Still the same issue I'm having with my Sony X900F. - Oppo will show SDR on the XMC (and it's clear that's what I'm getting), even though the player-led Dolby Vision processing is showing DV is active. I also force the color space (4:4:4 12bit) and the XMC shows it for a split second before changing it back when the movie plays. - On the Apple TV, I get the washed out menus and no DV when that's enabled. As a previous poster suggested, I just forced it to 4K HDR@60 and turned Dynamic Range matching to "Off" and that at least enables HDR. Makes apps like Netflix that utilizes a lot of DV look much better, so I can live with that for now. I'm on 5.1a on the XMC, 12.0 on the ATV, and the latest public firmware for the Oppo.

Curious if folk using other than Oppo players are experiencing DV issues? Not sure what the competition is right now; certainly the top Sony and Panasonic players.

Thanks wilburthegoose and jmilton, but as tunatamer said, I wondered if people using non-Oppo players are experiencing issues? Or is it just an Oppo thing? I have updated through 5.1 but have done very little testing (Work and Life -- had a concert to play yesterday and then our younger son was down to pick up some stuff so I didn't have time yesterday, and still need to try a DV disc). I am encouraged by y'all who've seen no problems, wondering if I will have any, but I do not recall people who own other players commenting either way. Seems like most of us own Oppo.

On 5.1a which fixed the bit depth display and some other minor quirks. AplleTV also fine with HDR10 and DV. DirecTV 4K is a total bust though. Any 4K channels don't pass video. Emotiva working on it.

Anybody that has DV working with the XMC-1 in the chain, please post which TV set you own and length, brand and type (active or passive) of the HDMI cable going from XMC-1 to TV set. In my case, the TV set I can test with is 35' from the XMC-1 so I'm using a 50' Monoprice HOSS active HDMI cable. My TV set is a Sony 55X930E. I already tested it with the Emotiva HDBaseT 4K Exterder and got not better results compared to the Monoprice cable so I returned the HDBaseT 4K Extender to Emotiva. I'm getting a 35' and a 40' Monoprice HOSS active HDMI cables on Thursday and I will check if I get proper DV with those.
DV is very susceptible to long run HDMI cables, though.

I don't have his email address, but I will call emotiva tomorrow. v3support@emotiva.com Cool, will use that email too. My PS4 (standard not Pro) is not working properly yet. When plugged in all I get is a black screen, and when i then reboot the XMC-1 because it seems to bug the other outputs as well it shows the screen normally while the XMC-1 is rebooting. When it is fully rebooted screen is black again Cheers

All other devices are on their latest public firmware. Dolby Vision is running fine in my setup.

Or what is that preferred setting to let the ATV switch to the correct format as it comes in?

Set your format to the display's native settings (which isn't HDR or DV) Make sure match content (both range and format) are set to on. Emotiva still has to fix the menu color errors when DV content is played.

For those with Sony displays, keep in mind that Sony's DV implementation is different than every other manufacturers'. I don't know if this implementation could cause issues with Emotiva's HDMI card, but it certainly requires a player (Sony UBP-X700) that supports it. To the best of my knowledge, said Sony player is the only one that currently does.

The latest firmware update for Oppo 203 and Oppo 205 players added Sony DV profile so now Oppo players do pass DV to Sony TV sets. If I connect my Oppo 203 to my Sony X930E bypassing the XMC-1, I get proper DV. Also, ATV 4K supports Sony DV profile since February TVOs update.

Regarding cable length, HDBaseT, and DV, there is an interesting page that can be found HERE. This chart is from that page and it shows the data rates required for the different 4K formats. Hopefully this might help folks with discovering some solutions.

Thanks for sharing, ttocs. Very interesting seeing that HDBaseT does not support DV. When I asked Lonnie about their HDBaseT solution and DV support, they responded to me that in their lab the HDBaseT 4K HDMI Extender did work with DV. However, when I got it, I didn't get any DV, not even full chroma subsampling and that's why I did return it. Unfortunately this test did cost me $17 in return shipping + $50 Emobucks.
