So you think I would be ok going from 5.1a back to 5.0 and so on ? has someone posted V5.0 somewhere ? Did you ever reflash the XMC-1 with V5.1? Like I said, I got my audio related issues fixed after the second flash with V5.0, then with any new firmware, audio has been fine. You may only need to reflash with V5.1, though.

Hi guys. I'm having some trouble getting the HDR to work on my LG tv with my shield TV. I have 5.1a and everything working great, just not HDR. Turned on "Ultra HD Deep color" on the TV, tried all HDMI outputs. I've tried multipel 4K movies, both local and from Netflix, still only SDR. I've tried all setting from 4.2.0/4.2.2/4.4.4 and also 8/10/12 bit in yuv. None of it gives me HDR Any advise?

^^^ I've been reading quite a bit recently that DV is taxing the current technology to the max. This state of maxed-out-bits is on an evolving and improving course so things will be improving in the world of cabling, this year, next year, . . . . The equipment may be capable of handling the load, but the transmission medium needs sorting. I've even read that cable companies can now get their cables DV certified so their cables can display a DV stamp on them. Well, the 50' Monoprice HOSS Active HDMI Cable does pass DV from ATV 4K to my Sony X930E but only if I bypass the XMC-1. As soon I put the cable in HDMI OUT 2 or 1 on the XMC-1, I get the ATV 4K detecting DV in my Sony but then the content plays in SDR. The XMC-1 should not alter the signal at all, but its definitely doing it and ruining it. I also get HDR but with a LOT of banding that you could easily see on ATV 4K Home Menu. I haven't heard back from Emotiva yet, but I believe that the XMC-1 is causing HDCP to periodically fail on the receiving display device -- which then down converts with assorted bugs. In my case, that down conversion looks sorts of like pink / green errors you see in 1 pixel wide images when there's filtering... because that's what going on -- the projector down converts when HDCP fails (but does a poor job at it... because who wants to down-convert content?). This is my best theory, and fits all the evidence I have. The HDCP failure isn't related to HDMI connection -- as mentioned, I still see the issue with a 4' HDMI run, and it never fails immediately after rebooting the XMC-1. (if it wasn't clear, this is speculation right now)

Looks to me that those with successful DV pass through have problems with audio only receiving PCM 2.0. I have zero issues with audio. I get all the sound modes, including DD+, DTS-MA, Dolby True HD, Dolby Pro Logic II Movie and Music, DTS, Stereo, Auto, Direct, All Chanels, etc. but I haven't see DV at all. I watched Black Panther last night - beautiful Dolby Vision and 7.1 audio. (Player was Oppo UDP-203 and TV is LG OLED65B6P)

For 2016 LG Oled users LG is rolling out 5.30.30 which addresses some DV and HDR related bugs.

Then I have the Shield connected to the xmc-1 and that is IT.

The latest firmware update for Oppo 203 and Oppo 205 players added Sony DV profile so now Oppo players do pass DV to Sony TV sets. If I connect my Oppo 203 to my Sony X930E bypassing the XMC-1, I get proper DV. Also, ATV 4K supports Sony DV profile since February TVOs update. Good to know, I didn't realize other devices were already supporting it. Well, the 50' Monoprice HOSS Active HDMI Cable does pass DV from ATV 4K to my Sony X930E but only if I bypass the XMC-1. On Thursday, as soon I get the 35' Monoprice HOSS Active HDMI Cable (the one I have is 50') I'll resume DV testing, including taking the XMC-1 out of the rack and bring it over my bedroom to try with 6' Premium Certified HDMI Cables and the Sony X930E.

I've only read a dozen of the 30+ pages, but here's my experience so far, the short/tired version: Received HDMI board today which included v5.1 firmware on the USB stick. Had no problems w/ the hardware nor firmware updates. Desired/current signal path: Oppo UDP-205 -(2' AR HDMI cable)--> XMC -(10' passive HDMI 2.0 cable)--> HDFury Vertex - (33' Ruipro active fiber cable)--> JVC RS540U imgur.com/a/TIcT6GYCan't get any kind of 4k/HDR or even 1080p video through the XMC to my JVC projector. In some cases, the projector indicates it's locked on a signal, but the image is just a solid black screen. Aside from the XMC, this combination of cables/vertex has been working for the past several months as I've waited for this board to be released. I've already read that active cables are, basically, not supported. I'm pretty certain, though, that my Vertex is providing the power to this cable & it seems to be receiving the "expected" signal from the XMC. There are firmware updates for the Vertex that I haven't yet applied... so I remain hopeful. My "final" desired configuration is to send the 4k signal to the JVC and a downconverted signal to the Panasonic in another room, along w/ audio via... HDMI or 2nd zone outputs... unknown. But I just want to get the basics working for now... Within limits, I've shuffled around cables & hooked up my old Panasonic projector. I applied the firmware a 2nd time & did a factory-reset. Using just 2 short passive cables w/ the Panny in 1080p works, although the XMC doesn't seem to output any video until the Oppo is sending a signal. I have a 2nd 50' Ruipro that I haven't yet pulled through the walls... I've got that plugged directly into the JVC for testing... again, it works fine directly into the Oppo/Vertex, but not when the XMC is part of the equation. I'll try it some more tomorrow. I'm not opposed to using an HDBaseT transmitter/reciever and I've already got some Cat6 pulled next to the Ruipro cable, but I'm kinda annoyed at this point and giving Emotiva more $$ while tossing out $300 in otherwise fantastic Ruipro cables isn't part of my formula for happiness

I thought that I would share my experience of installing the new board. It came with v5.1 on the USB stick. Previously, I had updated the firmware on the XMC-1 to the latest version (4.1?).
1. Updated the firmware to 5.1, as directed. 2. Installed the board, as directed. Also replaced the HDMI cables with Monoprice Ultra cables (6 ft. from the 203 to the XMC-1, and 10 ft. from the XMC-1 to the LG). Everything is in/on a single cabinet so there are no long distances to contend with. 3. Once everything was buttoned up and powered on, I threw in a Blue Planet II disc. 4. The LG indicated that it was seeing HDR and the XMC displayed YCbCr 4:2;2 HDR, but the audio was only PCM 2.0. 5. Checked the settings on the Oppo and everything seemed fine. 6. Updated the firmware to 5.1a. Didn't seem to make any difference. 7. Reflashed the firmware to 5.1. I now got the correct audio (DTS-HD MA), but the video was only RGB 4:4:4 SDR. 8. Reflashed the firmware to 5.1a. I now get the correct audio and video. Woo hoo!
One thing I noticed that I never saw before, is that when the LG now detects HDR, the "HDR is now on" flag pops up in the upper right corner (as usual), but so does a flag that says "HDR10" in the upper left corner. I don't know what is generating this (the Oppo?) but I never saw it before when I had the Oppo connected directly to the LG. No matter. No more swapping cables. I'm happy.
Now all I need to do is figure out how to pass a non-4K signal to a small, no-name, LCD monitor that I have hooked up to the HDMI2 output. I use it to display menus and track info when I'm playing CDs, SACDs, DVD-As and BD-Audio discs.

Hhmmm, there is something seriously strange going on with the re-flash'ing process. Someone at Emotiva will need to track this down.

Cool, will use that email too. My PS4 (standard not Pro) is not working properly yet. When plugged in all I get is a black screen, and when i then reboot the XMC-1 because it seems to bug the other outputs as well it shows the screen normally while the XMC-1 is rebooting. When it is fully rebooted screen is black again Cheers Hi, Just flashed 5.1a. Having the same issue with my PS4. Doesn't seem to be an issue with Xbox One S or PS3, particularly the PS4 (Standard). The screen flashed up a few times while the system was booting, but by the time the system had fully loaded, there was no picture, and no other pictures worked.
