Hello. I'm having an issue with the front (L,R) channels on the XMC-1. No audio at all. It is connected to an XPA-5.
The setup menu for the XMC appears to be pretty straight forward. I'm testing with a very basic set up. The XMC is recognizing the source material and displaying it correctly.
I tried audio on the HDMI inputs (video is fine) with an OPPO 103 and Apple TV. I also tried with an optical connection from my cable box. 5.1 is present on all channels except L&R front.
What is also interesting is that when I set audio to 2 channel and play a stereo source, the audio is produced on the center channel only.
For speakers I do not use a sub. I have Def Tech BP 9060s across the front. Speakers are set to FULL and NO SUB. I did not change anything in the configuration except set up the speakers, assign the inputs and set the trigger.
To be sure it wasn't an issue with the XPA-5, I moved the Center output of the XMC to the L&R channels of the amp. They are fine. Is there a setup on the XMC that I am just missing? I've been at this for a few hrs so any suggestions would be appreciated.
BTW- I did not upgrade the XMC. I received it on Monday so the code should be most recent GA release.
Thanks!

Strange... Some things you might try: - Double-check the interconnects on the back to make sure L/R/C are correctly attached. It was different than my last AVR so naturally I had to mess up at least one.
- Check the FW revision -- they were shipping with 5.0, but 5.1 and 5.1a have been released (see the V3 board thread).
- Make sure triggers are set to include All Speakers.
- Make sure the speakers are enabled in the setup menu with appropriate size (another sanity check). For front (L/R) speakers, the only choice should be Large or Small.
- Try a factory reset.

make sure all the toggles are flipped on the amp for the outputs you are using

Just to confirm - this is a 100% new XMC-1...correct? So, it's not like something changed other than hooking up the new XMC-1. If so, I'd call Emotiva for a full troubleshooting live in person.
Also, when you say you "moved the center output of the XMC to the L&R channels of the amp"...I presume you mean you disconnected the center output at the amp's input connection and plugged that into the left and/or right amp inputs. If so, that confirms that socketman's suggestion isn't the issue. On the other hand, if you disconnected the center line at the XMC's center output and moved that to the XMC's left and right out's, then what he said could be happening. If so, check the position of the bal/unbal switches to be sure.

Thanks for all of the suggestions. I'll give this another try today.
Mark- Yes, this is a new XMC-1. It replaced my UMC-1 that was working with the XPA-5 and other gear just fine. Same interconnects ( unbalanced).
I will review the connections one more time and if all else fails, I will do the factory reset as suggested. I won't update the code before calling support. I spoke to Keith L last week who told me that I shouldn't have to with my current set up.
Stay tuned.

Update
Performed the factory reset. Went through setup again including speaker preset config. Swapped interconnects and amp inputs to rule out the XPA-5 and cables. XPA - 5 L&R channels work fine when moving any of the working outputs from the XMC to them.
No Front L&R audio at all from the XMC-1. Not even test tone.
I was going to take the cover off to see if anything came loose during shipping but thought I should speak to support before doing so. Either I am missing something within settings ( hopeful) or the unit is just bad (not good). I guess the UMC-1 goes back in the rack. Was hoping to have this running over the weekend. Oh well :-(
Thanks again for all the suggestions.

Definitely time to call Emotiva. Sounds like something must have gone wrong with this unit.

The Title says the problem was resolved. I see no mention of a resolution, did I miss something?

Total operator error! Duh.....
After experimenting further with settings (enabled subs) for the speakers, I found that the main fronts were plugged into the L&R SUB outputs, not LF and RF. I can't believe I missed this. Time for another eye exam. All appears to be good for now.
Let the tweaking begin.
Thanks again...

Glad to hear you got it figured out i really didnt think it would be anything too sinister. We need a breakout box for us old farts. I have to take off my glass's get down on my knees witha big flashlight and shove my head in behind my rack to see anything. Maybe one day i will have everything in an upright rack on wheels.

Thank you for your honesty! We’ve ALL made such mistakes! Those that haven’t are either liars or don’t know an XLR from and RCA. 😁😋 Now go enjoy your music! 🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶

And, as for the need for an eye exam...I can relate. It's a challenge to see the print. My approach these days is to look at the manual (which I can see), then count positions relative to a side/edge to find what I am looking for on the actual gear. Mark

Mark I view the manual on my IPad, then I can zoom in on the parts I want to see in detail. All my manuals are in IBooks on my IPad.

I know it has saved me many times.............. 1. It is important at any age IME/IMO. 2. Speak for yourself, old fart. (Insert stereotypical "grew old, never grew up" joke here.)
