got a pair of old Airmotiv 5's and one of the speakers just is constantly popping and cracking despite not being plugged into any input.
Looks like a bad cap on the second pcb.
Anyone know where I can source some replacement parts for these speakers?

Have you reached out to Emotiva directly via phone?

Anyone know where I can source some replacement parts for these speakers? I have an Airmotive 5 that’s starting to go and pops for a while when first turned on. I also figured bad caps and eMailed support about 6 months ago, they suspect caps too, here’s their response (I haven’t done anything yet as mine isn’t that bad). I would also reach out to them, but I’ll probably attempt repair myself when it gets to me. “He said he thinks that there are a number of caps that may be bad.... But the caps on the power supply are most suspect. He thinks they are 10,000 uF at 50V.”

waiting to hear back from support. I e-mailed them, I don't have time to play around on the phone.
Looking more and more like these are going to end up on the trash heep.
Sad

Emotiva has obviously cut significant corners to where even their flagship amps have had to have cap and resistor replacement within three years of build. I can say, I no longer refer Emotiva to my friends unless they are buying used. I knew bringing the production stateside would impact the pricing, however I never imagined the quality taking a dump as well.

I'm not sure that I would consider an Airmotiv 5 as having a "flagship amp", plus as far as I know they are made in China not the USA. Cheers Gary

Cheers Gary I wouldn't either Gary, I was referring to multiple SA-250 with bad caps after only a couple of years in service

Bad caps seem to be a recurring theme around here. UMC-1 - bad caps - Flex amps - bad caps. I could go on but the fanbois are about to show up...

Cheers Gary Reread Tim's post - he didn't call the Airmotiv's flagship - I believe he was referring to the amplifiers that have shown a tendency to blow through capacitors. FWIW my daughter has a pair of the AM4's and has had no problems with them --- for now. I can replace the power supply caps if she has any problems with them . She loves those speakers.

yeah, support already e-mailed me back. Despite explicitly saying I knew I was out of warranty and asking for assistance obtaining repair parts at an expected cost to me, the only reply was "please submit info for warranty coverage"
sigh
I have a pair of Airmotiv 6's that I've sent back to Emotiva twice for amp issues. These 5's are used from my uncle.
I'm with others, this will be last Emotiv product I ever buy if I can't salvage these 5's. Service is good but seems like they couldn't get any of the old Airmotiv's to stay in an amp.

I have been lucky, with all of my Emotiva gear I have only had an ERC-2 that had a spindle motor go bad. Fixed under warranty and hasn't skipped a beat since. Hope they take care of you

In my case the AM5’s are about 6-7 years old and just started making noise, I’ve had caps on subwoofers from other companies go bad in less time (which doesn’t excuse either product). I think they should last longer, but sometimes someone makes a bad parts choice, maybe more than one.
