Just checking to make sure I understand - are you referring to the XMC-1 and the Denon 4400 as your "amps"? Neither is an amp, but the Denon - being a receiver - has amps. The XMC-1 is a "preamp/processor" so it decodes digital inputs and outputs an analog signal to an amp and currently provides up to 7.1 surround sound. The Denon is an "audio video receiver" which decodes a digital signal and then outputs amplified sound to your speakers. That said - I don't know of any way you could combine these 2 units to do what your are talking about. Mark

Check the back of the Denon. If it has direct inputs (usually 5.1/7.1) then you can use the Denon for the amp section. Since most manufacturers are dumping legacy inputs it probably doesn't have direct inputs. You could sell the Denon for enough change to get a 5 or 7 channel amp that would be a better choice for powering your home theater.

But...he says he wants to do 11.4 Even the Denon it had 5.1 or 7.1 inputs...how would he get to 11.4? and use Dirac Full? Not seeing it... Mark

I was simply giving the OP some ideas. He'll need more amp channels, no doubt about it.

Sell both and grab a Anthem AVM60 and a XPA-11
