Yes and no.....
The Asynch USB inputs on all modern DACs synchronize the incoming signal to their own local clock (they don't actually re-clock it; it's clocked by the receiving device to begin with). This includes the USB Stream input on the XMC-1 - which is an Asynch USB input.
S/PDIF inputs do not inherently re-clock or locally clock the input.
However, the XMC-1 also has an ASRC between its DSP stages... so the audio signal from any input does get re-clocked at that point.
Hey KeithL , I think you mentioned that the optical and copper S/PDIFs do not do Asynchronous reclocking, right? Just curious. Casey

Thanks guys. I have tested using XMC-1 USB with my Mac. As mentioned in another thread, I'm testing out the Project Pre Box S2 DAC. Currently on a 2 channel set up with a USP-1 and will try it out on the XMC-1 over the weekend to do the A/B comparison.Wanted to take a listen to MQA which this box does support. For 399.00 I thought it was worth a try. So far, so good. Talking about getting a boost in sound quality, have you tried using a power supply unit for the receiver of your Squeezebox Duet, one that is different from the stock Power Supply with which it originally came, and is superior to it? If you haven't, then I would try that, as it can have a dramatic transformative effect on the SQ of the duet... My Squeezebox Touch was transformed into a Microrendu- calibre streamer and performer when I replaced the stock power supply with the sbooster version pictured here: www.sbooster.com/botw-pp-eco-5v-6v/squeezebox-touchand here: hifiheaven.net/shop/Sbooster-BOTW-P-P-ECO-5V-6V-Linear-Power-Supply-Upgrade-Black?language=en¤cy=USD&gclid=Cj0KCQjw77TbBRDtARIsAC4l83lvMzD3OkOMuAPreYSEKnqS_cn79NWmnPQCA0pMZ6q1rn_L7-z7448aAu1HEALw_wcBGet a comparable one for your Duet, if you have not already, and you might get a boost in sq that might surprise you... Of course the DAC which is paired with the duet will also be important, but you are aware of that already, I imagine.

Upgrading the power supply is a must for me as well but Im waiting for August 15 when the newest Sbooster is due to make its debut. I hope it gets rave reviews. I’ve been shopping power supplies for my DAC for a month now. I’ve even considered getting a second sps-500 from SOtM but they are a little pricey. Even if you get a good deal on one.

I imagine you're referring to the MKII version of this one: www.sbooster.com/botw-pp-eco-12-13v/brooklyn-dacThe MKI version was quite well reviewed. I would certainly like to know how the MKII does when you get to pair it with your Brooklyn.

A review of the Roonlabs Nucleus+ Roon server Hans is a little difficult to understand as he is Dutch so if you go to his YouTube page and find this video you can go to the top right corner click on the three dots in turn Captions on , in English for me. Hes been involved with file based audio for over ten years and knows quite a bit. His YouTuube Channel has a wealth of information. some answers Boomzilla
