So, if you look at my latest post above, I’m no longer worried about WiFi range, my new router location is great and both the newer ASUS and Netgear I’ve tested there have great range. What I’m looking for now is a router with the DHCP features I mentioned above. If you have the router you’re recommending, check out the DHCP reservations.
“So I need greater than 64 DHCP reservations (like the Nighthawk), and I want DHCP reservation sorting like my old fashion Apple”

Not at all, the Nighthawk I’m testing now is WiFi 6 (AX), and that’s what I’d prefer, but the DHCP features are more important to me, so AX preferably, but AC ok.

I’ve been using a P ortal for a few years now. Absolutely no problems whatsoever.

If anyone want to continue comments on the Router issues I mentioned in the Owner’s thread, please do it here. Looks like I need to revisit the Ubiquity products, it’s a constant theme and I think I may have not fully explored the answers I got previously. I’m headed to do more research there now, it’s time to get this thing done.

I'm running a UDM-Pro, Gen2 24 PoE switch, 2 Pro APs, a FlexHD mounted outside and couple of their newer 5 ports mini switches; I didn't want to crawl in the attic and pull additional cables.

I have separated by router from the Wifi. The router for FIOS 1 gig is a Cisco RV320. I start my dynamic IPs at 100 and reserve below 100 for fixed IPs. For WiFi I switched to Ubiquity Unifi products. These are wired mesh which allow me to maintain the same network name throughout the 3 floors and the garage. There are 2 x Nano and 2 x FlexHD. These all all hard-wired POE (Power over Ethernet) devices. I also bought a Cloud-Key to have browser access without the need to have the application running on my PC. 1 Nano is installed in the upstairs bedrooms which has turned out the be prescient since they moved to online Zoom learning in March and my Wife also works from home now. All are full-time WiFi. I bought 500-foot of cat-6 cable from Amazon and had my electrician here for a day snaking wires. This was a bit of project but since moving there are no issues and the WiFi is no longer right next to by HT gear which had caused interference in the past. WiFi is no longer an issue and separating the router functions is also beneficial. According to Fing, I currently have 40 active devices on the network. - Rich

As others have already said, go Ubiquity Unifi, it's what a lot of pros install in business environments and you'll never go back. All that other consumer stuff is disposable garbage.

So I’ve just been generously allowed to ‘tour’ the Unifi management and monitoring UI, I gather it’s called the ‘Controller’, it seems most excellent and should meet my needs. I’ll now spend some time looking at what products will give me this interface and meet my WiFi needs.

I've also got Unifi at home. Running their cameras and networking equipment. The wifi and networking is very stable and fast. Unfortunately, I'm only using NanoHD and the in wall HD's, not the newer Unifi 6 access points. If I were building something today, I would be tempted to just put in a handful of Unifi 6 in-wall access points. This would have saved quite a bit of wiring to in-ceiling access points and removed the need for the 5-port switches.
3x NanoHD, 2x UAP HD-IW, CKG2+, 48 port POE switch (early access modular PSU version), 2x 5-port switches, 6x G3 Flex, 1x G4 Pro

Is there a theme here. Each use case is unique and almost all are using different gear. So each in their way is valid. I have quite a strong feeling for Ubiquiti as well. When custom is here and the Best Buy brands won't do it, they are my go too guys. When you want just about enterprise grade without the Cisco name and BS price though. Araknis is killer good. Every network custom system I have done is perfection with these guys. Cheap? Hardly. But good? Oh yeah, and reliable and capable too. Luxol is worst network product I have ever seen. See araknisnetworks.com/

See araknisnetworks.com/While it’s not cheap, most of the WiFi 6 routers I’d tested from Netgear, TP-Link, Linksys, and the Amplifi Alien were all more expensive, though they have AX and the Unifi’s are AC. I consider the prices pretty reasonable, at least what I’m looking at. The feature that sold me today was the ‘Controller’ management and monitoring software, that’s really been the only sticking point with the other products, but it’s a big one.

I decided to try the Unifi Dream Machine, it seems odd to be replacing an 8 year old AC router, with a model that came out less than a year ago and is still AC. But this hasn’t really been about speed, as my most of my devices are wired, certainly the important ones. But really it’s about management and I was very impressed by the Unifi Controller, which the Dream Machine hosts. I’ll set it up tomorrow and see how I like it. Thanks for everyone’s suggestions and help.

I use a router that I chose in which I could flash to a different OS. Ck out: dd-wrt.com/I was about to mention what Shimei stated. Routers are Linux OS and have seen some very interesting firmware upgrades for consumer products. There are some pretty sharp folks on that site that know routers. I'm betting there is something close to what you seek there. I did re-flash the old Linksys 54G router from dd-wrt due to an issue (don't remember) and fixed it. I've also taken old routers and re-flashed to make them a switch. Check it out, you may strike gold.
