I used every key word in my search that mattered and still couldn't find this. What did you type to search? Yeah, its always been 6. But yeah know, its doesn't necessarily say the module will have six, he only says it takes it up to 6. So the module could only have 3 new outputs, in theory. Did this Google search: site:emotivalounge.proboards.com rmc-1 sub module danAs for combining the sub out outputs to get 6, I’d say it would depend on whether they’ve implemented any new time alignment options in he RMC-1 itself. If not then I’d think you’d want all of your subs hooked to the module. There was my mistake, not using google. Stupid me tried searching within the forum. Dummy.

Makes sense considering the balanced interface and fitting double the circuitry for the xlr's Bonzo What Ime really curious about is the ''big atmos news" and how it interacts with the 7.1.4 mastering option we apparently have had imposed ? .

Guess the mods purged the "old" thread. Let's try and keep this one more on topic. I personally just finished building my entire theater room out for 9.1.6 Atmos and am awaiting the release of the RMC-1 to buy/build speakers from DIYSG. I hope it comes soon, but the longer it takes the more I can save and spend on larger subs! On a slightly related note, my XPA DR3 just arrived, so time to get on building my LRC. Just want to say kudos for having the balls to start this thread with the 2019 title. I was wondering when someone would say it in the other thread or start a new one. I'm sure you'll get some flack starting it this early. I still think it would be light hearted fun to start a thread with a poll that listed the months of the year for the next 2 years where people could vote for their guess as to when it would come out. And then post the exact date. I would try to keep it up to date. BUT, I think it would be taken as negativity on my part by the mods and Emotiva. Anyone esle say otherwise? Let me know and I'll make it. Back on topic. I proposed that one big question Emotiva should be able to answer by now is which expansion modules are planed first. Not when or even how much they will cost, but which ones? I'm also not sure if they have clarified if they could be user installed or not. That would be nice to know. We're treating the remainder development time for the RMC-1 similar to the recent HDMI board, and it will be our practice for other subsequent projects as well. We'll share info on development milestones on our podcasts, and we'll likely have another soon, but we won't commit to dates until we feel secure in our sign-offs. The development team is very focused on getting the RMC finished. You'll also see very detailed information on the product when we officially kick off the launch on our website. We are not going to take the bait with any comments on this new thread subject line either.

Can someone else find Dan's post about the subwoofer expansion module? I've searched now for a while but simply can't find it. Turns out it will be (4) balanced subwoofer ports, in the podcast.

The latest podcast has dropped. Annotations: mm:ss | Description | 0:36 | Business is up at Emotiva. Covering new announced products. PA-1 ICE Power Amplifier, DC-2 will be coming out before the holidays, a new Class A Headphone Amplifier, ... | 2:45 | A new $79 High-Quality Blue Tooth Receiver with S/PDIF out will be on the emotiva.com site next week. | 4:28 | RMC-1 beginning comments (being shown at CEDIA). They have Production Parts now and are almost ready to go. "The switch has been flipped" as Lonnie said. | 5:00 | Dan Laufman says that he anticipates the RMC-1 showing up on the emotiva.com site by the end of August. It sounds like that may only be for offering details rather than taking orders. That wasn't 100% clear. | 5:08 | RMC-1 Expansion Modules: Four Channel Output Module[1], Analog Inputs, Additional Balanced Output Sub module for four more Subs, Phono stage, Thin Client Streaming, Analog Extender, Four Channel Analog Output, quite a few others. | 7:06 | XMC-1 is End-Of-Life and it's replacement will be called the XMC-2 — yay for a non-confusing name! The XMC-2 will be more expensive than the XMC-1 but no price was mentioned. A new Atmos module for the XMC-1 is still coming and will be released by the holidays. | 8:00 | The XMC-1, XMC-2, and RMC-1 all share the same video engine. So any changes to support new video formats like 8K, etc. can be back-supported by the XMC-1 because of the shared technology/interconnect. (Dan Laufman did give himself the wiggle room of "wherever practical". I assume if some new format required more bandwidth than the XMC-1 is capable of it simply wouldn't make sense to try to push that back int the XMC-1.) Also, as code fixes/enhancements are made, those will translate across all of the products including the XMC-1. | 9:40 | Cathy Laufman covers Emotiva Business Issues: V3 HDMI has been out of stock for a couple of weeks but will be "back on the cart by the end of the month"[2]. | 11:22 | Shows: CEDIA in a couple of weeks. CES in January, 2019. Axpona in April, 2019. Emofest on Memorial Day, 2019 — 15 year anniversary of Emotiva! | 13:12 | Factory Renewed Sale next week. An "Emo-Blast" will go out on Tuesday. |
Casey [1] At the 6:00mm:ss mark Dan Laufman said the RMC-1 has the capability for 24 channels of decoding. It comes out as 16 channels, expandable to 24. This provides flexibility to go beyond 9.1.6 (but they can't to talk specifically about future formats). [2] Dan Laufman said that several hundred V3 Upgrades have been done so far with lonnie saying ~80% were self-installed. Dan Laufman also said there'd been very few problems ... which may actually be true if there have been that many upgrades and only the couple dozen people actively reporting problems here ...

I can't wait to learn more about the thin client streamer...esp. if it comes as a stand-alone unit to be used with a lot of gear, as discussed at Emofest. If it works like a microRendu or the like and has great sound for a fair price, it will sell well.

If they could just make 2 or 3 sets of outputs, and make them all assignable, everyone would be happy. Fixed Record Out (Loop would be great but not absolutely necessary) (source assignable) Fixed Zone 2 (source assignable) Fixed Zone 3 (source assignable) Variable Zone 2 (source assignable) Variable Zone 3 (source assignable)

I do wonder (hope) that the outputs can be a zone 3 output. That would make it great for my outdoor setup. Well, on the 4-channel Analog Output module Dan Laufman said that they would be fully assignable ... but a Zone 3 would also require some kind of User Interface for a Zone 3 with separate Volume Control, on/off, possibly a Trigger Output, etc. So I don't know.

If it works like a microRendu or the like and has great sound for a fair price, it will sell well. It was specifically talked about in the context of RMC-1 Expansion Modules. Of course that doesn't preclude Emotiva from doing a stand-alone unit, but with the set of options out there — especially Raspbery Pi-based — I'm not sure I would see the business sense in doing one.

But we'll have to wait to see what the documentation says. Casey

What I'm interested in is which client protocols it supports. I'm most interested in having a Roon Endpoint, but a Squeeze Client would be a bare minimum (and that would be a problem because I don't think the Squeeze Client protocol can handle DSD data.
And hopefully we're just talking about hooking up an RJ45 Ethernet port and calling it a day ...

I hope it supports DLNA, squeze, and ia Roon-ready. If so, it will be a competitor to the likes of micrrendu, etc.

What caught my ear was Dan mentioning being able to use the additional 8 channels over and above the 9.1.6 configuration as a majority discrete application [6:13]as Casey noted Will this be a new dsp format to apply to a discrete track ?

I wounder how big rooms you have that can use all this speakears for movies. 24 speakers + 4-8 subs + amps for all passive channels.

I wounder how big rooms you have that can use all this speakears for movies. 24 speakers + 4-8 subs + amps for all passive channels. I’m thinking you can use up to two of the sub or 4 channel modules. So you start with the RMC’s 16 channels, add a 4 sub module and a 4 channel module for 16 + 4 + 4 ... 24 total. Possibly there’s only one module and it can be used for subs or ‘regular’ channels, but it would seem the sub module is more complex. In any case few would have the inclination to go for that many channels, but it would put them in a special class. I think making the 4 channel module configurable as Bonzo and davidl81 have suggested would make it more appealing to a wider audience. Edit: I can’t help but wonder if this quest for more channels has something to do with the Dolby ‘announcement’.
