Guess the mods purged the "old" thread. Let's try and keep this one more on topic.
I personally just finished building my entire theater room out for 9.1.6 Atmos and am awaiting the release of the RMC-1 to buy/build speakers from DIYSG. I hope it comes soon, but the longer it takes the more I can save and spend on larger subs!
On a slightly related note, my XPA DR3 just arrived, so time to get on building my LRC.

Not purged, just locked. There wasn't much good happening it there anyways.
With the various compatibility/inter-operation issues they're facing with the V3 HDMI board I'm guessing that everything is now on hold while they resolve that. There's certainly no point in populating more V3 HDMI boards out into the wild either in the current XMC-1, Gen2 or the RMC-1, or XMC-1, Gen3. That would just complicate the issues.
What I'd like to see is something far more productive. Say a series of very short "how to" videos from Emotiva highlighting the RMC-1 features and how to use them.

Casey IMO showing off features of the RMC-1 would not be a good thing to do now unless they were within a month or so of actually going on sale. I would just like to hear from Emotiva a timeline of what they have left to do for the RMC to go into production. Not just “we are real close”, but more of “we want the HDMI board to be solid, then we need the final production chips etc”. I know most manufacturers don’t give this level of detail, but most also don’t announce a product two years away from actually going on sale!

I often wonder if Emotiva really needs all the headaches that seem to develop in each of the processors they put out starting with the UMC-1. Is the profit margin on these that good. Why not just stick with amps, which they do very well producing and with little or any problems and a speaker every once and awhile.

Just want to say kudos for having the balls to start this thread with the 2019 title. I was wondering when someone would say it in the other thread or start a new one. I'm sure you'll get some flack starting it this early. I still think it would be light hearted fun to start a thread with a poll that listed the months of the year for the next 2 years where people could vote for their guess as to when it would come out. And then post the exact date. I would try to keep it up to date. BUT, I think it would be taken as negativity on my part by the mods and Emotiva. Anyone esle say otherwise? Let me know and I'll make it. Back on topic. I proposed that one big question Emotiva should be able to answer by now is which expansion modules are planed first. Not when or even how much they will cost, but which ones? I'm also not sure if they have clarified if they could be user installed or not. That would be nice to know.

But they did hit pay dirt with the XMC, a fantastic unit after the UMC'S. I hope what you're saying does not materialize.....I'm from the opposite camp that relies on Emo. processing, but have an amplifier preference from another company. That doesn't mean I wouldn't buy an Emotiva amp. but I can't kill the one I have. I feel bad about the pressure ANY company must feel, putting out a processor that could be in danger of being yesterdays news after a year or perhaps less. Bill

Looks like the old 2018 thread is back up and running, but this one is probably more accurately titled.

We've either gotten 5 months wiser, or 5 months more pessimistic. Maybe both.

Better thread title would be RMC-1 coming “Soon” or RBC-1 to be released “right around the corner” liv2teachGlad you stuck around bud, leaving the forum all together isn’t the answer... No matter how frustrated you are at the time. Trust me, I know. All jokes aside.. I REALLY REALLY hope this thing comes out soon see I can get my hands on an XMR

What are you using to tide you over until it comes out? Theater is going to be bare until the RMC-1 is released. Soooo.... in the meantime I made up for it in my great room with Triad Gold 6 in-wall L & R speakers powered by an XPA-2 Gen3, dual Acoustic Elegance 12" subs in an in-wall 7cf sealed enclosure powered by a Behringer NX3000, all processed through a MiniDSP DDRC-24 (with Dirac Live).

I'm also not sure if they have clarified if they could be user installed or not. That would be nice to know. I'll say if there are accessible slots on the rear panel (as was shown at CEDIA 2017 I believe), and they're not user installable, then why bother, they have to be. The multi-port sub module seemed a popular idea, phono module would interest me.

So I was going to say that the Marantz 8805 might be a good option for those of you who can't wait for the RMC-1. It even uses the AK4490 DACs (which were last specified to be used in the RMC-1). But I see that the 8805 is using 8 of the AK4490s in Stereo Mode to support 13.2 channels as opposed to fully balanced Dual Mono mode, one er channel, that the RMC-1 is going to use. So it may not sound as good.
Happy waiting!
Casey
P.S. I'm patient because I've had my Opportunity 203 (and a 103 before that and a 93 before that) plugged straight into my monitor for years. My DMC-1 wouldn't know what an HDMI signal is from Adam. My big wish is for the better DACs on the RMC-1. But I can wait.

So much is in the hands of other parties as to production runs [and unforeseen delays already] I would put more store in getting operating details for the RMC1 from Emo as being more concrete and reliable imo That in itself would give a good indication as to release time as final specs equates to a bedded down design at the least Conversely no info puts it further away .. Its always good to keep peeps excited with minutiae to encourage faithfulness If I didn't have an alternative atm Ide be less patient though..
