Dear Forum moderators:
As my previous post amplifies, it is very clear that, with the exception of the (as yet unusable) expansion bays for the RMC-1, all three Processors are absolutely functionally identical and seem to have the same issues (and benefits) and relevant discussions as well as the same firmware.
The special dual-mono DAC implementation across all channels of the RMC-1 and RMC-1L (vs just the LCR channels of the XMC-2) is just "there" and non user configurable so does not feature in any forum discussion, and is not a reason to keep separate forums for the XMC-2 and RMC-1 and RMC-1L.
Apart from any OLED screen display issues (and there are none!) pertinent to the XMC-2's one OLED vs the two OLED of the RMC models, there are no other functional differences.
I believe this forum (and the XMC-2 forum) should close to new posts and all new post attempts be redirected to a new, officially merged XMC-2 & RMC-1(L) owners thread.
This will only work if the XMC and RMC forums are closed by moderators, with a link to the new merged forum.
This current 433 page RMC forum would be accessible for legacy but is bogged down by lots of old firmware issues that are not relevant now, so a clean sweep is justified on that count too.
The rewritten 1.10 firmware is a new page turned for these processors it seems so let us shake off the past problems, which could put off new buyers.
It would also be beneficial to Emotiva (and therefore users) if new prospective buyers do not have to wade through (and get daunted by!) the 433 pages of initial troubleshooting, but only the relevant current issues.
If and when RMC-1 expansion modules come out, discussion of that should be in a separate thread, as it won't apply to XMC-2 or RMC-1L

Correct, via USB, which is what we are on topic with. (Note that the XMC, RMC-1L and RMC-1 all support Native DSD over HDMI, including stereo and multichannel sources. This requires something like the Oppo BDP disc/DLNA/Media server devices or another SACD player or device that outputs Native DSD rather than DSD to PCM conversion. There is no current way to output native DSD from a PC over HDMI) Oh I am glad to know they support native DSD One follow up question Will the high frequencies in DSD above 20khz got truncated or retained? I know Dirac only support 48khz. So I assume Dirac is bypassed in this case Thanks

To get the benefit of Dirac or other processing the DSD must first be converted to PCM.

I'm not sure what you mean by "the display rolls across"... although I do have a guess.
The OLED screens we use on our XMCs and RMCs have a sort of screen saver to protect them against the possibility of display burn-in...
As a result the display does move, in various directions, by just a few pixels, every now and then (I don't know exactly how often)... (But, when you catch that movement out of the corner of your eye, it can seem exaggerated, as if the display jumps.)
Could we get more settings for volume on, i.e. -70db, 60 is just a tad too loud at 6am. Could we have a totally variable user setting? Also, does anyone experience the displays roll across them intermittently? Not that they go off completely, but a roll from left to right, not very often. Whew! I'm not losing my mind after all! :-) Thanks Keith!

Standard Scarlett Book is 50kHz, which is what every SACD player will implement. JRiver has three choices of filter for the DSD codec. Mine is set to 30kHz (as I’m old so definitely can’t hear above even 20kHz!) nb. I have JRiver converting to 24/176 PCM for HDMI output to the XMC-2 Dirac processing not available for DSD direct (or PCM internal conversion occurs. Not sure on this)
