Will love your input as I myself also have the xmc-1 and wanted to know how it compares on music ? Also interested on those who have the Marantz 8805 and the Anthem avm60 how it compares audio wise with the RmC-1 I am unable to do a direct comparison between the XMC and the RMC. I sold my XMC when we moved two years ago. And even my audio memory would not be a good comparison since I have a completely different room and difference speakers. I can give you my thoughts on the RMC compared to the Marantz 7704. From an audio standpoint, there is no comparison. The RMC wipes the floor with the 7704. I never thought the 7704 sounded bad while I owned it, but the difference between that and the RMC is quite large. When comparing any audio equipment and you hear a big improvement, you just know that is what great audio sounds like. I had compared the 7704 to the 8802, and I personally didn't hear any difference, or at least not one that stood out. Maybe if I really concentrated and focused I could have found one, but I look for improvements I notice, not improvements I have to search out. I've heard the Anthem AVM60 and with ARC, I think it's a better sounding machine than the 7704 and 8802 (both with Audyessy run). I heard a difference, but it wasn't as big of a difference as what the RMC had. The audio on the RMC is big enough I'll live with all the quirking display issues if I have to. I can't go back from this audio nirvana provided by the RMC-1 That's good logic control Deewan ; atmos metadata can be piggybacked on either dolby truehd lossless or dd plus lossy ; so its correctly differentiating the two . Perhaps someone can stream some Netflix 4k shows to see if it switches to the lower bandwidth atmos .. its nice to have this info available at a glance Thanks for the explanation. I knew it was something simple like that, knew it wasn't only an Emotiva thing and also therefore knew it wasn't an error, but still seems odd to me. But as long as I see that second line showing Atmos, I'll be happy. One last thing, my JVC projector does not have Dolby Vision so I have not attempted to test that. I do have a Sony TV with Dolby Vision, but not sure I'll be motivated enough to test it. Hopefully someone else will chime in and provide answers to that. Wow that is good to know that the Audio is amazing. Hope you keep enjoying your preamp. Thanks for giving us your findings and your input. I will be ordering a RMC-1 on January since my theater is still being built.

Can any of the owners or Lonnie find out if the XMC app (Apple) works on the RMC-1. I have figured out a way to make the lack of a zone 3 work, but I need to have the ability to control the unit from my phone since we use it with our patio/pool and I want to be able to adjust the volume turn on the unit etc from outdoors.
I've got this 40% off card burning a hole in my wallet, lol.

I can even control my whole sound system from my office because it connects via Cloud, meaning that you don't need to be in the same wifi network to control it.

Do those remotes use IR blasters to control the RMC?

Just installed mine, and like others have said, truly amazing sound even without dirac. Having the same issues with the screen not displaying what it is supposed to and when i try changing inputs it freezes up or i get flashing of the diffferent inputs and then nothing.

I also have an OPPO-205 and watched two different movies with no dong. Hope you find the culprit! It's more like a ding. Yeah I have tried everything. I hope your OLED screens are not defective......Mine don't have that corruption at all, but my OSD gets all wonky as well. Glad to hear your displays are fine. I'm not to worried about it and I'm guessing the OLED displays are fine. Normally when the OLED display screens show something strange it's at the same time or right after something on the on-screen display has also shown something funky. I'd wager its a coding issue and I have faith it will be resolved. Heck I might even do another full power cycle and see if it resolves the issue. Both of you, try a factory reset after saving your settings. Cleared some, but not all of my issues.

All Harmony Hubs based remotes come with the Hub and two IR blasters. I have the Hub right on top of the XMC-1 and don't even need the IR blasters to control my whole rack. The Hub signal is powerful enough to cover all the equipment I have inside my Salamander Synergy AV Rack.

By the way, has anyone hooked up a Linux system to the USB Audio Input? If so, could you do an "lsusb" command and send me the output? I want to see what USB Vendor, Device ID it presents itself as in order to see how that works with sound/usb/quirks.c:snd_usb_interface_dsd_format_quirks() ...

Thanks Lonnie for the quick response. I replied back. You folks are awesome!!! It sounds like you hopefully have a resolution to your dinging issue, or at least a good option to resolve it. For anyone else following, tonight I plan on doing a full factory reset, full power cycle and then load my settings onto the RMC from the USB drive before doing some more audio and video testing/comparing/demos. My gear is listed in my signature so if there is anything in particular someone wants me to test or try with what I have please let me know. If I continue to have some hdmi sync issues I may tweak the Harmony remote commands and how individual gear powers on. After some thinking I sort of recall needing to do something similar with my XMC. I think I had to add a short delay or switch the power up order with the XMC-1 to ensure it locked on 100% of the time. I do remember once I made some small change the XMC never had issues locking on.

Yes I have a resolution to my problem. It is actually kind of funny. Not a setup problem. I am getting a new unit hopefully by this weekend. It is Dolby's fault. No fault of Emotiva. And I don't even think they would have found it if they did QC it. Because it was flawless sounding for about a minute or slightly more. Then it would ding. So I know if I were inspecting them I wouldn't have left each one on for that length of time. To many and not enough time. But like I said it sounded so good I actually played a whole movie like that. Because it sounded so darn good. Even the ding sounded so real. The first time it happened I jumped out of my seat. And freaked out. And it was at the same volume as the movie.
So this thing is a keeper. I will live with the slight glitch in the menu every so often. I know they will polish that. What they can't polish is a turd. And this is no turd.

I'd be curious to know if it's possible to restore an RMC-1 from an XMC-1 settings backup, just for things like distance, levels, input naming, etc., as a starting point.

Do those remotes use IR blasters to control the RMC? Besides a blaster, you can also use a direct cable from the blaster port on the Harmony Hub, to the IR input on the RMC, that’s what I do with my XMC (you can also chain on to other devices from there). The only catch is that the blaster output on the Hub is a 2.5mm TS connector, and the input to the XMC/RMC is a 3.5mm TS connector, so you can’t just use a trigger cable. You either need an adapter (Monoprice has them), or build your own cable/adapter as I did. However, I also use the XMC App to control the level of my outdoor speakers and find it easier than the Harmony App, so I too would be interested in someone testing it with the RMC-1.

If Emotiva is watching... Please take a look at the following issues I discovered while using the RMC-1. I'm more than happy to help provide how I'm getting this issues to show. Response times are still horrible after doing a full power cycle. Using either the Emo remote or the multi-directional knob, I can switch inputs and the RMC is slow to reply. If I make an input double switch (ie, going from input 1 to 3 or 2 to 4) the RMC doesn't always make it to the second input. When using the control knob, it appears the knobs ouster ring should glow, maybe not always, but sometimes. I can't figure out when it should and when it should not. At first I noticed while navigating the menus the different quadrants of the ring would glow showing the direction options I could select. Say for instance I'm at a menu screen that allows be to toggle up, down or back to the left. The top, bottom and left side of the ring would glow. That glowing ring stopped after a few minutes of use. I'm not sure if I ever got the glowing ring to work again. If you choose to display the volume on the right OLED display, but then hit the Info button the remote, the info stays on the right screen until you adjust the volume. Hitting the info button a second time does not return the volume value. I'd think it should or would. This is the right OLED which I have programmed to show the volume 5 minutes after I hit the Info button. More issues with the on screen display not populating. Sometimes showing next to nothing. Here is what the OLED display showed. And here is what the on screen display showed. I currently have the right OLED set to display the Volume and the left OLED to display the input. However, when changing inputs the right OLED shows the old input and the left OLED shows the new input. I don't think that is by design and is funky to see. And remember, my right OLED is supposed to only show volume Same settings here. I don't even remember how this happened. The right OLED is still set to show on the volume but somehow displays the input on both screens. Audio is still amazing, but I do have a favor to ask anyone who has an Atmos setup and either the RMC or another processor. While watching clips from Mad Max Fury Road, I was getting some distortion from the overhead left channel. I had not watched that movie before with an Atmos setup so I'm not sure if recorded that way or something wrong with the RMC. I should have grabbed some time stamps, but it is while Immortan Joe to introducing the members of the gas truck heading off to get supplies. If anyone can help I'll grab time stamps tomorrow.

deewan Is it around the 8 minute mark right at the beginning? If that’s the spot I got ZERO distortion. Just joe breathing and talking. I had my ears a couple inches from my heights just so I could focus a little better.
