Historically, Emotiva has never been among the first to receive Dirac Live updates (the XMC-1 never received the DL 2.x update). It would be amazing if Emotiva supports it out of the gate [with the initial Dirac implementation], but that may be wishful thinking. It could be another long wait for the premium DL Bass Management options. [/quote] The Monoprice HTP1 will have this availability so one would think that Emo will also be in the loop as well.

We don't know anything that wen't on in the background beyond that. But it would be nice if Dirac updates for the new processors were somewhere near the other vendors.

The Monoprice HTP1 will have this availability so one would think that Emo will also be in the loop as well. I'm confident EMO will have it. The question is when? Same for the HTP-1, not if but when. Has it been announced that the HTP-1 will have the new DL Bass Management on its initial release (it will have DL 2.x). Here is the only list of first manufacturers to feature it that I have seen:

Just so that everyone, and new owners keep in mind with the REFERENCE STEREO MODE: This mode purposely has NO EQ, and NO BASS MANAGEMENT applied, and you CANNOT enable or apply EQ\Bass Management. Right, just like the XMC-1 has always been, that's why I'd like to see them add the "Reference Bass" I described above. If they could do it, it would still be pure analog. The problem is that if you connect to the subwoofer LFE input you can’t use the crossover on the sub. This is only possible on line in. However if Emotiva added a Reference Stereo+sub mode with HP filter settings for the sub through your LFE connection. Then people with different kind of speakers could benefit from the more untouched sound. Otherwise there’s always the Direct mode which includes bass management but excludes EQ and such things.. But this mode requires small for main speaker to do playback from subs in stereo. Edit: Except for using Enhanced bass of course. Don’t know if this feature is available in Direct mode though. Might be in Stereo mode only.

Given that this was announced nearly 8 months ago I hope they can do it! Keith laid out the timeline earlier in answer to some speculation from a certain member who handily drew out the facts ; standardising dirac among ce's will aid implementation time of extra features imo emotivalounge.proboards.com/post/1001220/thread

Might be in Stereo mode only. My subwoofers have presets that let me switch between LFE and Crossover Mode on a single input, so Reference Bass might not work with all subs, but is a simple concept. As soon as they add any kind of filtering you lose Reference / Pure analog as it uses digital filters.

They do not touch L/R with my suggestion. Also doing the filtering in the sub or in RMC.. Does it matter? As long as it is done in the best possible way? You’ll have to do some filtering anyway because you can’t let it play full frequency otherwise you simply have enhanced bass++.

All I want is a full range signal coming out the sub outs, my sub will do the LP. It’s not enhanced bass because it would be pure analog, enhanced bass isn’t.

See my post with the link on the prior page. I have Maggie 1.7's, and it certainly is nice to hear them in reference stereo WITH a sub! Mark

With the talk of presets I was wondering how the bass module works, will it have the ability to have multiple presets like TV, movie, and GTG. I know a few guys that use their mini dsp that way and I was hoping this module will have that ability as well.

All of what people are discussing here can be accomplished with current hardware configuration but needs a better UI solution than what OSD provides. Emotiva needs to get with the program and provide a web based configuration menu that allows users/ installers to configure these things at that granular level. Unfortunately we are still stuck with a processor that has problems losing audio lock on streaming devices like the Shield and ATV4K. THIS NEEDS TO GET RESOLVED PRONTO and a better UI solution presented as the competition is beginning to lap the RMC-1.

Hi
So with the progress made on FW1.5 I picked up my RMC-1 today. My setup will eventually be 9.2.8 (for now 9.2.4). The 9 is not an issue with the RMC-1 ie L,R,C,LW,RW,LS,RS,LR,RR. The .2 isn't an issue ie LSW,RSW.Now for the .8 I have plugged in the 4 tops, and am wondering on an ETA for a 4 way module to plug in the 4 heights ie RFH,LFH,RRH,LRH :-) Keith, Lonnie any indication of when we might see a standard 4 way XLR expansion module?
On another note.......I have a couple of older pieces of gear eg SVHS player (If your wondering WTF VHS?!?! I have pretty much one of every device with libraries of hard to get stuff and haven't had a chance to convert all of it). Now in the case of the SVHS deck, I will pass the S-Video to a Lumagen processor which will covert it to HDMI. Now for the left and right audio.....can I plug it into the RCA section and then have it play the audio through there when I select the correct HDMI channel.....ie can I marry a L/R RCA to a particular HDMI port.....or do I have to inject the audio into the HDMI before connecting to the RMC-1?

^^^^^^^^ So . . . maybe one of the upcoming modules will be for SVHS inputs?

There will be at least three speaker presets, two with parametric equalizers, and at least one with Dirac — we are cautiously optimistic there will be at least two for Dirac.

It can’t do what I’m suggesting with the “Reference Bass” concept, and a different UI wouldn’t help (unless there are features we can’t access). I would like to see some kind of headless configuration like you suggest, possibly coupled with a updated App. Sorry to hear though there are still audio problems, I’ll find out how my gear fares later this week.

That would be awesome let’s hope for 3 at least, because there is always “MY” setting for when you just want to listen to it the way you want.

Granted it would only be three subs. It’s just that this thing seems so hampered by the designers and engineering when in fact it can go head to head with some of the upper end processors out there.

While there is all this talk of bass management, readers might be interested in what DIRAC is releasing at CEDIA 2019. www.avnirvana.com/threads/dirac-live-bass-management-set-to-make-its-official-debut-at-cedia-2019.5374/One can also accomplish the same thing with Multi Sub Optimizer software (free download), REW and an outboard DSP for ~$150. My recommendation is to see if you like what DIRAC does to the bass before spending $400 for the module. What is not clear to me is how the module will be implemented with the existing software. There is still also the limitation that the calibration file for the mic is off axis (meaning measurements are to be taken at 90 degrees to the speaker). This falls apart however when you’re taking measurements for height channels where the cal file needs to be on axis. Perhaps they are now looking at the response of the room and mic orientation makes no difference. Hopefully this coincides with an estimated *cough cough* release date *cough cough* for Emo's subwoofer expansion module. Yes...I want that too! I just re-watched Dan @ CEDIA 2018 where the RMC he was showing had the subwoofer expansion module. I'm wondering if that was just some XLR's thrown in to look cool - or if that was a no-kidding functional module. I'll probably run 3 or more subs in my final setup and it would be nice to have that module. Here is the video: www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=5&v=4PvftYLr3wkCan anyone from Emo give us a timeline on that module and how it will interface with DIRAC?
