. I just like my new PT-100 so much that I am thinking about getting the A-300. I see a UPA_2 for sale for a little less and the power is a little lower.
which of the 2 is better for music running some Polk RTI-A9 towers. (they like power) ? I am used to 200rms.
I am also considering some Outlaw Audio 200 monoblocks.

Have you also considered some upa-1’s ?? Although I’ve always been curious about the outlaws.

I have the A-300 running a pair of outdoor Deftech speakers and it seems to do a really good job. I know Boomlizza thinks very highly of the A-300. When you say you are use to 200W RMS is that from an external amp, or is that 200W from an AVR? I feel as though the A-300 would outperform almost any AVR on the market. Between the A-300 and the UPA-2 I would get the A-300 since it is new with a warranty. Power wise regardless of the spec sheet they will be very close to the same. I think the UPA-2 has balanced inputs as well as RCA inputs, which is about the only advantage the UPA-2 would have,

Get a used pair of XPA-2 gen 1 or 2 amplifiers if you want power. The power difference between the UPA-2 and the A-300 isn't that great in a practical sense. I can also reccomend the Emotiva PA-1 monoblock amps

the warranty thing is the nice part. I have been talking to some others about other amps that were rebuilt that I would love to have but I dont want to spend the $800 they want for an amp that is 20-30yrs old and soon parts will be unavailible or it can still have a meltdown and then Im out of money..or they die and then I can get them fixed.
so I am looking at alternatives like the A-300 ....im just curious what they changed or dropped between the two models. cost goes up quality usually goes down.
I am also looking at the UPA-1's but they are also out of warranty. but at least they are not old
the outlaws I just run across this morning.
is the a-300 BRIDGEABLE? I cant recall seeing anything about that.

I am running a rebuilt Crown K1 pro amp. it sounds fine but I am curious about something new. I have run all the usual name brand amps and AVR's . I am running the Emo PT-100 pre right now and I dont miss my former vintage gear at all. I am just curious to see if I am missing something having been told here I am ..lol..

My suggestion would be to order a a-300 and see how it sounds in your system. If you don't like it, return it within the allotted time and get your money back. Then, go on a quest for a UPA-2/XPA-200. Hearing both a UPA-2 and an a-300 in my system the difference between them was negligible. There was a difference; but not a OMG what have I been missing in my life type of difference. The UPA-2 did some things better while the a-300 did different things better. A good UPA-2 will likely run you in the mid-$200's plus shipping. I know this because I was in the market for a UPA-2 about 2 years ago and the price they were going for then I could spend a little more and get a new a-300.

I am currently looking at a older amp that was rebuilt by certified specialist with modfications. it will put out safely 500 rms z 2 and have a 3yr warranty for the cost of $750.
otherwise I may wait and find a nicer 2 channel emotive. I was looking into the mono blocks but the issue is with those if one goes out and its not fixable then I must find a replacement or sell other one and start over.
not sure what I will do. my max is about $750 and the amp in question will have resell value without question. lots of amps do not because there are so many of the same thing,.

If wattage is your main buying point, then asking about an a-300/UPA-2 is rhetorical. Considering that the UPA-2 that I have was in my 2nd floor bedroom and my neighbors and I could easily hear it with the windows open (the speakers were not in the window, but in their normal spots) across the street, I'm not sure what an extra 350 watts would have given me. I know that I would not have been able to be in my bedroom at that level as it would have been too loud. Bedroom is 20x24 ft.

never said wattage is my main buying, I was just giving some details on what other alternatives I have. I already have plenty of power but I am looking to see if I am missing out on details and clarity because I was told pro amps cant provide the same quality. if it was about power watts then I wouldnt even be asking about these 125-150 rms amps would I ?
if you have never had 300 watts before then what can you actually say about how it sounds? I dont run that because I need volume. I am sure I am not actually using the amp full throttle. what I do know is that it does all that I ask without breaking a sweat . something a 50-100 watt amp cant do if I turn it up loud like I do when I am cleaning house

If your budget is set at $750 max you may be best to find yourself a Gen 2 XPA-2 with remaining warranty. High quality amp with plenty of quality power with a good reputation for reliability.

I've had experience with XPA-2 and XPA-1 gen 2, UPA-2 and A-300, and your PT-100. I would do a used XPA-2 gen 2 or a set of new Emotiva PA-1 amps ($600). Both very nice.

for the moment I was offered a Adcom GFA555II thats been totally rebuilt. I just want to try it out. I will easily be able to sell it on ebay.
if I dont do that then back to new with warranty. the PA-1 interest me but I would hate to have dual mono blocks and have one die then I cant listen until thats fixed. I prefer 2 channel.
would love a XPA2 or XPA-2

If you don't think it's what you like, then you can return it and get your money back. It's a total win-win.
