Locally there are some nice floorstanding speakers for sale. Multiple that I have listened to and liked over the years. A couple are soft dome and a couple are Aluminum.
Basically there are (2) Paradigm Studio Reference v3 speakers and (2) Dynaudio up for sale.
I have listened to and like all 4 (when they were new products).
Would you be concerned about spending 500-1,000 on speakers this old?
One pair is a Dynaudio Contour series which was an upscale line for them.
Or would get something new like the Tekton Lore Be? (Obviously not listened to)

All I can say is that Tekton are great speakers, although I have not heard the three pairs you mentioned I do own Tekton Brilliance and my buddy owns Tekton Double Impacts and both sound fantastic! Phil

Back in April, I purchased a pair of at least 10-12 year old Paradigm Signature S8. I fell in love after hearing them. Having auditioned a bunch of different models around that time, I was convinced I wasn't going to find a better sounding pair of speakers for the $2700 they were selling for. Helped that they took a trade in on my other Paradigms and gave me some good coin for them. Got lucky as it was right before they discontinued my old pair.
If they are in good shape, I wouldn't hesitate to pull the trigger one bit.

I love the Signature Series as well, but they do not seem to come up for sale often.

I love the Signature Series as well, but they do not seem to come up for sale often. You can find them, but they are expensive (there is a V3 pair on A-Gon right now for $5500). I got lucky with these. If they sound good to you, I say go for it. Nothing wrong with an older set of speakers.

I'm looking at a second pair of Acoustic Research AR9. Must be close to 40 years old.

I have a 14 year old pair of Thiel CS6 that I bought in 2012. They sounded great then and still do today. As others said, if you like the sound, condition is good and price is right I would not hesitate. Good luck.

I have a pair of Carver ALS III. I bought them used for $700.00 about 5 years ago. I think they came out in 1985. They still sound fantastic. I have them bi-amped with Emotiva mono blocks and Emotiva Fusion 8100 that I'm using as a pre-amp

So I take it you are talking about the Paradigm tower 100's right? Those are nice.Go for it. There's also nothing wrong with the Tektons but it's different from the Paradigm speakers.

I sent a 30 yr old pair of Mission speakers to a service that re-cones them.
Many people do this themselves but paying a pro was $50.

Actually there is a pair of 60s, which I am ok with. The 1,000 pair is the Dynaudio Contour 1.8 mk ii. Not sure which way I will go.

As someone who has been rocking a second-hand pair of 100 V3 for about 6-7 years now, I can't recommend them enough. I am truly happy with my setup and never felt a need to upgrade / replace these speakers. I drive them hard on occasion and they always give me crystal clear sound. They are very well made and match my sonic preferences exactly. I imagine my pair was made somewhere around 2004 and they have been in constant use since them. The doctor I bought them from only sold them to upgrade to the Signature line.

I have a pair of Thiel CS 1.6 that I bought used when they were three years old. Have had them for at least ten years. As others have said, if in good shape and the price is right, no hesitation.

The Paradigms have a lot of drivers! I would make sure all drivers are perfectly functional.

I have you beat Mountain. Bose 901_II since 1974. Re-stained cabs and new grill cloth. I did have the EQ rebuilt with quality caps and they sound better than new.

The outcome was a dream fulfilled.

I've had Paradigm Studio 20v5 and a pair of Dynaudio two way, currently I'm using Tekton Design. My choice would be new Lores. Good luck on your decision. Cheers
