So a 28 capable channel 5k receiver isn’t allowed a previous award because of shaky firmware on the release and we’ll go ahead and compare it to a 16 channel when there’s actually another 16 channel that will be released for cheaper.. ok. FYI it got the award because to get to 28 channels it usually costed 30k. Even a flimsy start it should hold that award unless it’s found to be unfixable. The Monoprice is a cool product if you’re looking for roon. If you’re an ufl member or have a 40% off it’s a non starter for most. That’s assuming the RMC-1 runs efficiently in time for the Monoprice release to give some confidence the RMC-2 will run without hiccups.

Just how long do you think it will take them to design, make, test, vet and release those modules you are craving? My bet says you will be waiting a LONG time. And then get ready to be a beta tester. Not fun in my book. |

This is great news...was just looking online to see if there were any 16 channel alternatives to the RMC (in the price range) coming out in 2019. Looks like end of June we'll have at least one. The Monolith amps received favorable reviews, so lets hope the same goes for the HTP-1.

Having 3 expansion bays was part of the reason for the award and I’d assume he had insider info on what was extra special about those. Expansions in general are innovative even if he wasn’t aware extra channels were on there way. And to quote Lonnie the new upcoming support of more channels in mult dimensional audio was always what the system was designed for. If I bought the system with the intent to have it any less than a lifetime I might just settle for a RMC-2 or Monoprice. I’ll have patience for what this thing is. Got mine in today.

True on that last part (not so much on your first part), but in hind site I'll bet he's a bit pissed at Emotiva now. It took an ENTIRE year to release his awarded product? And then with glitches galore? He got grief for giving the award and he should have. Since when does Honda get "car of the year award" for a car that isn't in stores yet? I think that would be called "concept car of the year." Same goes here. As was/is, that award means diddly squat. |

Yeah and now we’re focusing on the least meaningful part of anything. Maybe it didn’t deserve it but I’d say it does as long as it delivers in the end. Because of what it is now as expandable and because of what it will be when those slots are in. Too bad it wasn’t a best prospective award then for some reason there would still be no relevanse to comparing it to a 16 channel Monoprice.

Your argument is akin to two neighbors who live next to each other....one has a custom made muscle car with all the big boy toys attached, the other drives, let's say, a basic Infinity Q50. The muscle car guy is always bragging and saying there's no comparison and how great his car is....yet the Infinity guy passes the muscle car man daily because the muscle car is not starting, or when it is running it's sputtering and misfiring down the road needing some type of upgrade. Could it be the argument people are trying to make is, yes, the RMC looks great on paper, but in practice it's misfiring and sputtering? I'll settle for a simple basic 9.1.6 system (btw: the HTP has a number of configuration options) that's dependable and gets me from audio/video point A to Z. I think some on here have bought the sizzle, and some (including myself) prefer to buy the steak! |

I'm amazed how many users of expensive high end equipment put up with IR remote control, properly integrated 2 way network/rs232 is so much nicer. |

This monoprice is obviously great value but the question is how is the ATP16 [which is a collaboration of atp and datasat engineering and is coming too] and also comes under the ATP parent company "umbrella'' ; similarly to this oem monoprice ; going to justify its 10k price tag ?
Something has to give and it wont be just its lack of 2ch balanced passthrough or who would buy the ATP ? Speculation could include better components ; dual differential circuitry that you can bet the HTP wont have and whether anyone particularly cares - plenty of Marantz Denon etc owners don't.. By the time its released the $200 cheaper RMC2 if its stable of course will be dual differential. My crystal ball is foggy about other options turning up now that 9.1.6 chipsets are available to smaller boutique makers ..

Honestly it’s more out of respect knowing that I’m in a forum hosted by Emotiva so I’m giving their systems as much respect as I can. Just most people I read seem disrespectful and antagonistic rather than focused on anything productive. I like your car analogy except neither cars are really on the road just yet. I’m more akin to say the RMC is a Tesla with self driving and ludicrous but our power grid is not dependable at this time and yes it is a Tesla powerplant. The other car is surely nice and should be dependable but nothing is to say either is a bad car. They are just different. No one is really bragging just stating fact. They are different and I question those trying to equate them as that would mean you should be comparing the RMC-2. And some people would rather walk or ride a bike or even use their old clunker for now till their power is back up and dependable so they can depend on the car they want for the whole 300k miles. Not just the starting 10k. I’m in the buy once cry once camp. If your q50 had self driving in its future and could keep up having “my” kind of fun I just might rethink my purchase but it is perfect for many. Monoprice could price this thing at $5 and I still wouldn't voluntarily put it in my house unless I actually WANTED to burn it down.

Perhaps my analogy would have been better stated if I made clear I wasn't necessarily talking about a future Monoprice as much as the point that I'd rather have my current Marantz 8802a which operates flawlessly. True, it's not as capable on paper as a fully functional RMC (which I truly hope materializes in the months ahead), however when compared to the RMC in it's present state, in my opinion, is the better processor. With that said, it's important to note I'm only referring to home theater capacity. I use a separate system for music listening which is what I do 95% of the time in my media room. So to paraphrase: Yes, on paper the RMC is the number one machine at it's price point and I hope it can eventually live up to it's promise. For now, I believe the better processors are those (Marantz, Denon, etc.) that are tried and true and operate as trouble free as one could expect. But, until the RMC is fully functioning at the same dependency level of these other processors, I don't believe one can make an argument that the RMC is the "Best" processor. Thanks |

I’d always argue the Trinnov 64 channel will probably always hold the best title anyways. I’m not trying to take away from good processors that fit individual’s needs though and I won’t get sour that I can never have the best. I’m happy to see a wide range of options and prices so we can all figure out what is the best for ourselves. Just because there is better out there doesn’t mean that has to take away from the best we’re going to manage for our own room. And you’re right no reason to rush getting the Marantz out of the room since you own it already unless you need more and what you replace it with is running solid. No one would say that. I don’t think anyone has said that. Reminds me of the does technology take away the fun thread. Only if you let it. If you want to always say you have the best system you’ll never be happy. I’m perfectly happy waiting for my rooms best to get itself ironed out. And you won’t see me trying to undermine a competing product if one comes along around the same price point or better. I definitely won’t jump on it attacking it on temporary setbacks. That would say more about my ego and defending my system than waiting to see where the chips fall cuz in the end that’s all that matters.

Mark I believe it was later clarified by bootman that Monoprice has a high number of products and are continuously releasing new products. Hence MP clears out old inventory at reduced prices. |

But we all know that what ONE beta tester says doesn't tell the whole story. 😉 The part where he describes how Dirac handles 3 subs is HUGE for me though.
