Don't use ARC - use a Toslink cable to your MC-700. Just asking, does the MC-700 have issues with ARC? I use ARC on my super cheap Denon AVR downstairs through my Sony 4K LCD and it works perfectly. I run my Apple TV 4K, Blur-Ray Player, and a Xbox all into the Sony TV. From the Sony TV I use the ARC channel to go to the AVR. I also have the HDMI control turned on. All I have to do is click the Apple TV remote and it turns on my Apple TV, Sony TV, and Denon AVR. I can change the volume on the Apple TV and it controls the AVR volume. And this is like a $400 Denon AVR form 5 years ago. It has super high WAF, and honestly its the only way I can have surround sound down stairs since it is so simple for the family to use.

You don't seem to have read what I wrote. I believe he means the 4k versions will work similarly so the things you like or dislike will still be present, just in 4k. So if you like either, get them. The risk is the MC700 has only HDMI 2.0a ports. I don't know how well (or not) that will work with either of those devices and their 4k versions, and your TV. The MC (which I have) has it's share of Emotiva HDMI warts, especially with 4k. Is there some way you can borrow/try one? Yes, I understand that the same makers 4K app is likely to resemble or be identical to the HD app, but my question was how the 4K apps in the TV would compare. Since the set is supposed to arrive today, I will probably wind up simply using the internal apps at first and take it from there. Knowing me, I may wind up going whole hog and getting either the Nvidia Shield or Apple TV app. All that extra processing power cannot hurt anything.

Then Puff is right - you are both capable and the only one that can really answer that question for you.

ARC can be really flaky industry-wide. If it works for you, you're all set.

I got my new OLED TV last week and ran an HDMI cable to/from the ARC inputs on the TV and the MC-700. Nothing happened. This week I added a "certified" cable from Monoprice and double checked the output and input settings on both devices. The MC-700 worked just fine on the first try. YMMV.
