Curious what loungers are more interested in. Is the general member base more interested in kicking back with a good album or a good movie.

I'm terribly complacent about home theater, still enjoying a dedicated 5.1 room with a 1080p plasma panel (professionally calibrated) but my two channel system is, unfortunately, caught in yearly upgrades of one component or another, speakers or software.

I find that I am quite satisfied with a simple Pioneer/Denon driven setup into modest speakers for Media/HT. The technology changes too fast to stay on top of it.
For my 2-channel I have meticulously pieced that system together over several years and I am much more focused on the best sound I can afford.

For years now, I have rejected the notion that there is a distinction between music and movies.
Music IS a “Theatrical” performance, as is film 🎞. I “kick back” with one top tier multichannel system, and look for equal performance from both. When I first expanded my High Fidelity system into film, my wife and I would enjoy the surround sound music that is present with the end credits on a lot of films.
The drivers in my center and surrounds are equally and acoustically matched to the main systems.
Every driver is running for music but I use different processing/ output levels to obtain what is, most like my take on a live performance.

My main system is used more for movies than two channel music. I wanted to build a system where I can enjoy 2 channel music as well, but the primary focus was for HT use. My Mirage setup works well for this, but there are compromises. The Biggest drawback I have is really just speaker/sub woofer placement. Since its a theater room the screen really dictates the location of the speakers and subs. Ideally I would have the speakers a little further away from the walls, but with the screen being 103" and the room being fairly small the speakers are mostly "stuck" where they are now. The room treatment has helped some, but there of course are drawbacks to the setup.

THAT's NOT "Terribly complacent" Terribly complacent is: 8 year-old 1080i cold-cathode backlut Sony "W" Series LCD TV Using TV Speakers reflecting off glass-top TV/Audio shelf unit (but those speakers on older TVs were bigger / better - SLIGHTLY) I DO use a matching Sony Blue-Ray Then again - I guess that this qualifies as a "TV Setup" but NOT really HT I just don't have the proper space to set-up a decent 5.1 system - No good places to park the speakers (archways and built-ins at what would be "Rear" of room...) maybe in our NEXT home (whenever that happens) My 2-Channel set, OTOH, is in an entirely different league What's even MORE sad is that A/V equipment and 2-Channel equipment are on the SAME SHELF UNIT - it's just that I cannot place the 2-ch speaker to flank the TV (E-W), so they're set in the corners of the long axis of the room (N-S)

I am definitely a two channel person and I have been all of my life!
Now on the other hand, up until now, I have only had Dolby Pro-logic, five speakers and no subwoofer. I upgraded to my new Emotiva system so now I have 7.2.4 and the .4 speakers are 8" Definitive Technology DI8R ceiling speakers. I do not listen to music in surround sound, but I do find myself gravitating toward the RMC-1's ALL STEREO mode, the ALL STEREO is a great feature, especially with the TRIMS on the remote control. I can make it sound superb. It is not mulit-channel, just multi-speaker stereo.

I am definitely a two channel person and I have been all of my life! Now on the other hand, up until now, I have only had Dolby Pro-logic, five speakers and no subwoofer. I upgraded to my new Emotiva system so now I have 7.4.2 and the .4 speakers are 8" Definitive Technology DI8R ceiling speakers. Steve, You hit the nail on the head and indeed, I do the VERY same thing with most of my music. ALL STEREO is also what they call it on the XMC1 that I use. My old processor called it “Party 5” and it’s been called other things but it is essentially the same. There is no standard for studio recording, therefore CD’s and other music media can be rendered quite differently, going from all stereo to the prologics and DTS variations. You have to play with them (and taking notes ain’t a bad idea either). Bill

I greatly enjoy both. Music is a big part of helping me get through my day and movies are what I do most nights after we put the kids to bed. Scott

I am a 2-channel guy for music recorded as such and a multi-channel guy for things recorded, so...movies, including concert movies.

As voted I am into more two channel than multi channel listening except for movies 🎥 I never listen to my music in any other configuration other than 2channel. I have heard 3channel recordings which are rare but very nice and wish more were available on the market..that said I stream from TIDAL and as of now there are none of these available to stream.

2 channel, but I designed the system to do both. Tried to get the best of both worlds, but the bulk of my usage is still music.

Both, I want to hear the designated source sound whether it is mono, stereo, or multichannel.
