I purchased a Yamaha receiver from them years ago and it was like new! Couldn’t tell it wasn’t brand new. Enjoyed it for years before upgrading.

I’ve purchased several items from them for both myself and for friends and family. I have yet to have a bad experience (and the factory refurbished products have always been indistinguishable from brand new), but I have also read some unfavorable reviews and, in some cases, horror stories. IMO, your experience should go well “if” you understand that (A) they are a “factory refurbished” clearing house; (B) fully familiarize yourself with their return policies and restocking fees; (C) make sure that what you are buying is really what you want. “B” can be an unpleasant experience if you choose to return a “non-defective” product. In short, they will accept a return, but will also change a 10% restocking fee and also deduct “their” full shipping costs (not the reduced rate they initially charge you). In addition to that, you are also responsible for return shipping. So, again, read their policies before you make a purchase. Safe and Sound (click the link) carries both brand new and factory refurbished products and is an “authorized” reseller for every brand they carry. They’re also far more “buyer friendly” than A4L. If the RMC-1 doesn’t come full circle soon, this is where I will be purchasing a factory refurbished Marantz AV8805. Food for thought... 🤔

I've bought from A4L about 12-14 times over the last 12-15 years. They were all either 2 channel receivers or AVR/AVP's, except for a Marantz TT that I still have. Some of those purchases were for family members, some were for myself.
Some of those In the early years I had zero problems with any of those purchases. The last 2 purchases were a disaster, both were AVRs. One, a Denon 4520 had what seemed to be a bad DSP, all the analog inputs worked great, digital inputs, not so great, there was a constant audible crackling in all channels. The other was a Yamaha RX-V673(IIRC) with a dropout in the audio every 5-10 seconds. They had the balls to charge me a 15% restocking fee for those two items.
So I don't buy from them any more. There are similar reports as mine on AVS. They used to be a great place to buy, today, IMO, not so reliable. Why would a company charge a restocking fee on a defective return unless they were just going to turn that item around and send it to the next buyer? They lost a customer for life. I might have bought a 2070 from them if they had treated me right, instead I bought new. I had to use my CC company to get that 15% fee returned, along with shipping charges they would not return. No more buying from them.

But to answer your question directly, the likelihood of receiving a defective “refurbished” speaker is about the same as any other product they sell. These items are refurbished by their respective manufacturer and I’m sure each one has their own refurbishing and recertification process. I can only speak for myself, but I don’t think anyone here is trying to discourage you from buying from A4L, but rather trying to make you aware of their unusually strict return policy before you do. As I mentioned, I have made purchases from them that, so far, have all been favorable. However, my favorable experiences have only came as a direct result of not having a problem with the products I’ve received and not having to encounter the "after sale" experience. Had I experienced a problem that required me to contact them to request a return and was then treated unfairly by having to pay the cost of return shipping (which is expected) plus a 15% restocking fee plus the full (non-discounted) cost of the original shipment to me, I would feel quite differently. Had I experienced that side of a transaction gone wrong, my repeat business would be out of the question too. So, it’s easy for someone to recommend a dealer when you haven’t had a bad experience and not so easy for someone else who has. There’s always two sides to consider and you can only assume (or hope) that yours will end up as a favorable one. Since my past experiences have been favorable, I can only recommend that you go ahead with your purchase and hope that all goes well for you. That's typically the norm, but in the unusual case that you do end up with faulty product, you do have two avenues to choose from to seek a resolution... (1) contact A4L and request an exchange for the same product and accept whatever their policy is for this type of transaction (exchanges are handled differently than returns) or (2) contact the manufacturer, explain the situation, and request a warranty repair. I have bought 3 AVR's from them, all refurbs, and the last one developed a bad HDMI input (or had it and I didn't notice) but it was beyond the return period and it had so many HDMI inputs, I had a bunch of unused so I just used another one. Apparently when it comes to them, though, you are playing the lottery: if your unit doesn't have any issues, you'll get a good deal; if your unit has issues, dealing with them will be very painful. I was on the good side of the lottery for my 3 purchases so I have been lucky.

I also had excellent experience with Accessories4Less. I got my KEF LS50's from them factory refurbished $900.00 and something. looked like new not a scuff on them.

I would assume so but they can still make things painful like charging you to ship it somewhere to have it repaired; making you pay for shipping for an exchange; you ship it to them to have repaired and they send it back to you and it still isn't fixed, etc.. Lots of ways to make things painful even if things are under warranty.

I purchased a Denon receiver from them years ago and had no issues. I was fully aware of the shorter warranty and return policy. It worked out for me.
