I have been very happy with my Denon 4520 and it has served me well with the exception of it not being HDCP 2.2 compliant. Have been looking at updating receivers and found a really good deal on the Denon 6500, so I bought it. I can't wait to hear Atmos in my theater once I install the 4 ceiling speakers.

I have a 6yr old Denon AVR and the firmware/software is pretty good.
Does the 6500 seem to have a solid software implementation?

Denon is pretty darn good. If I was looking for a better upper middle receiver, Denon would be on the list. I went cheap for my bedroom. Other plans later.

As soon as I connected to the internet, it popped up with a message that it needed to update the software with the IMAX update, it downloaded the update and seems to be running good. No other updates were available.

I like Denon alot. Their receivers are well built & last. My AVR5700 (Burr-Brown DACs) was one of the better sounding for music I've heard & lated 17 yrs. I still own 2 others. With DVD-3800 player as the source, DVD-A's were great. Many will scoff, laugh, but I like them. I wish they still made a pre/pro.

I’ve set my Yamaha 3020 aside while testing the RMC-1, I too have enjoyed the SQ of the Burr-Brown DACs in it. Yamaha has since gone to the Sabre DACs which I haven’t heard.

I hope the RMC works for you Nick. I'll bet it sounds fantastic. I just can't/won't drop $5k on a pre/pro from anyone. We sold the lake property so no idea if I'll ever get the HT I had planned.

thinking about the Denon 6500 too in the near future, it is one of the few models that still made in Japan!
I do have one issue, it doesn't have 5.1 analog input, how do I connect to my SACD player as I want the analog connection?
