Has anyone tried car speakers in the ceiling? I have 2 nice pair of 6x9 (3-way) I'm considering using for effects. After planning to zone out in the garage, then thought, "why not effects" for 5.2.4? My previous house, I zoned a pair of 6.5 rounds in the garage & they sounded ok. I used the "bucket pods", then Owens insulation over that. I drove by the old house & the buyer was still using them 10+ yrs later. lol

Agree with Bill. Take a look at Emotiva's surrounds for ceiling speakers. They use them in their killer Atmos demo...4 locations with 4 speakers in an array at each location. Sometimes, overkill needs to be done.

Bill Thx Bill, I did not think of that 6x9 shape- duh.. Would hate to cut holes, then "oh....". I bought 3 pair (going out of business sale) used 1 pair, forget about them, found the others in a box & wanted to put them to use; they're good quality units- Kappa's. Neighbor's son, a good kid, is rebuilding a Firebird & deserves a new (free) pair Hey, that's why I'm on this forum- smart people with good understanding of things.

Like Mark said, overkill is a good thing!

Personally I’d stick the 6 x 9’s in a pair of shoe boxes and give them a try, I think you will be surprised with how good they sound. Far too much bias in the home versus car stereo gear.
Cheers Gary

RSL C34E are a winner? GREAT I liked the design and it made sense to me. Freq response, pwr handling, crossover point & angled design all looked good, consider the price for Four units... ha. Everything else that I liked was 300-400 bucks each, no thx. Now I'll need a Basx A500 or A800 bridged.

Would these be good for multiroom audio, I have a buddy in Montreal who is wanting to setup up a 6 or seven room system, which will also have decent audio quality. Chad

Chad I'm not sure due to the angled design of the drivers... you might want to search on AVS as I'm sure folks have tried it or have asked a similar question.

I think you can change the angle so that shouldn't be an issue.

I too, did months of research looking for decent speakers that would not break the bank. I ended up purchasing and installing four Definitive Technology DI8R speakers that have a pivoting tweeter so you can aim it. They list for $349/ea on the Definitive Technology website, but I purchased them for $190/ea from Abt with the same Definitive Technology 5 year manufacturer's warranty. Happy shopping, you'll find something! Specifications: Driver complement: 1-inch (25mm) pivoting Aluminum dome tweeter axially aligned with a 8" (20 cm) BDSS bass/midrange driver Frequency response: 26Hz - 30kHz Impedance: 4 - 8 Ohms Sensitivity: 90 dB Recommended associated amplifier power: 10 - 225 WPC www.abt.com/product/47459/Definitive-Technology-White-8-Ceiling-Speaker-Each-DI8R.html
