So....
I bought a pair of T-2's while I was at the axpona conference (along with an A-300 amp) and they were delivered yesterday. last night while I was trying to extricate the speaker from the box standing up, the speaker slipped and fell (like a standing person falling right over) on my big toe. Loudest dynamics I ever heard as I screamed in pain from what felt like someone taking a hammer directly to my toe. ( I wasn't wearing shoes at the time). it took about 15 minutes before I could even look at the speaker to see if any damage occurred. fortunately with the T-2 wrapped in its fabric cover, there was not a scratch. on the other hand, there is still blood on the carpet and the toe is in colors and shades I have never actually seen before. .
about an hour later I finally hooked up the T-2's in place of the T-1's and they are everything the reviews have claimed them to be even without a normal break in time. I can't remember which reviewer said that it sounded like his subs were still active because the bass is so good, but I had that same impression. they are now marked down because the new T-2x's are coming in, but at $799 i really do think these are the bargain of the decade, and anyone on the fence about these speaker should BUY NOW.
now I wonder if emotiva's warranty covers damaged body parts.....
btw.... last night I hooked them up to my t-100 preamp/amp listening only to an iPod. (yes, I know that is not a high quality source. I was still in pain and didn't want to get up and use the cd or turntable). yet.... the sound, spaciousness, resolution, overall top to bottom response, transparency and dynamics were all incredibly good. I will be using my ERC-3 and Uturn Audio Turntable in further listening sessions. I can't wait to try my new A-300 amp bypassing the amp section of the T-100. Following that... later.... I will then try them out with my XSP-1 preamp and XPR-2 amp. but I probably won't do the last setup until I have listened to the T-100/A-300 combo for a few weeks.
to be continued...............

I have had a little more time to listen to the T-2's with the TA-100 and my iPod. in some ways these remind of of the original Advents back in the 70's because of top to bottom tonal integrity. ie... the spectral balance from the lowest to highest frequency is so linear. but, one big difference is the bass extension. the T-2's have it in spades. I remember vance dickeson (who wrote "the loudspeaker cookbook" and who was the designer for Emotiva's speakers back a decade ago), tell me he was not a fan of ported speakers at all because he felt the bass was always unnatural. I wish he could hear the T-2's because these might change his mind. so I still have yet to play these with the A-300 or with even my better associated equipment, but I promise that will happen over the next few weeks. my mind hasn't changed. these are exceptional speakers in the price range of $999. the new price of $799 makes them the bargain of the century. note I just upped that statement from decade to century.
one caveat.... I can't really remember what the Advent's actually sounded like.... I remember my impressions of what they sounded like. I will try to be clearer next time.
