I'm leaning to cutting our cable service and using only streaming for TV.
It looks like Hulu Live has most of the channels we watch (and more). The exception is that my wife likes the Hallmark Channel around the holidays (I don't, but...not having it would be a source of issues for her!). Also, we like AMC and occasionally the Comedy Central, and Hulu Live doesn't have those.
What have folks found with Hulu Live and adding channels like Hallmark, AMC, and Comedy Central via other approaches?
Any other reco's than Hulu? FYI, for us, having the channels that play soccer and Formula 1 + local channels is a must.

Mark I have DirecTV Now and have been very happy with it, but I did get in on an amazing intro package that is not available any more. I’m not sure what their new packages have right now. One thing I would warn anyone about is that the prices on these streaming packages will go up in time. They have too many channels bundled together and all of the streaming services are operating at a loss for right now in an attempt to gain subs. It’s not a huge deal since none of the services make you sign any contract, but just something I see happening in fairly short order.

What device are you using to run the app?
I have found that DirecTV Now, the AppleTV and being an AT&T mobile customer is a great combo. I'm getting just over 100 channels, including a ton of sports, for about $40/mo, plus free HBO, due to the fact that I'm an AT&T Mobile customer.
That being said, the DTVNOW app is not great, and the cloud DVR is dismal. But since I'm an AppleTV guy, I just use the DTVNOW login to log in to all the provider apps on the AppleTVs and I use the TV app as my hub, which is a phenomenal setup.

I have 1 TV with a Firestick, and another smart TV that has a lot of options I can use. I have a couple other TV's and could get additional Firesticks or Apple TV or Chromecasts to use with them.
Anyone try fuboTV? I looked at DTV Now, and I would end up having to get one of their highest packages to get a couple channels I want/need. Net, I am liking the Hulu Live or fuboTV best so far from what I see,

I'll be following this thread. I'm not sure we will ever completely drop DirecTV. But once I get all my hardwires up an running we certainly want to look into some other options as additional sources. Its the way its all going so we will be forced at some point anyway.
Bookmarked.

It looks like I'd need to get some type of device to use Hulu Live on my main TV. It's an older LG and doesn't support the latest Hulu app (required for Hulu Live).
So, I'd have to get something. I'd prefer to go wired as we've had some issues w/fuzzy images running wireless with this TV (which is likely due to a bad older wifi system in the TV), but...just to make sure, I'd rather go wired.
The Roku Ultra looks good to me - good remote including ability to use voice commands and appears to have all we need. Any input on it? I'm not an Apple guy, so the extra $ on an Apple TV seems like a waste.

The single sign on for the AppleTV works great and the AppleTV generally gets the most support from the app developers. For a one time buy I would strongly recommend the AppleTV.

Or, with the Roku, do I need to log in for each use? Mark

We were SlingTV subscribers, but I believe they offer the Hallmark channel as a $5 add-on... so add / remove when needed. Over the years I've found that getting a basic TV subscription bundled with an internet subscription typically yields the best monthly bundle rate with my provider Verizon. However, make sure you can return the setup box and therefore avoid that monthly fee and no, you don't need their router either, so thats another fee you can avoid. We recently dropped SlingTV as my wife lost interest in the 2 or 3 channels she originally wanted to watch through that sub. I use the Nvidia Shield and their app on my phone, when I need to authenticate to an app, I use my phone to pass the credentials; 1Password is my password store, so it's relatively painless process to pass the PWs. Although we're invested within the Apple ecosystem, I choose the Shield over the AppleTV as it fit my needs better. Both are solid choices.

No tracking what you're watching or searching. No selling your information to anyone with a dollar. At some point, more people may start to realize this.

I haven't been able to narrow it down if it's time based, say once a quarter, once a year, or if it's after an app update. Either way, passing the PWs with my phone makes the process painless.

I have 4 Tv's in the house and using streaming services only. Besides Amazon Prime and Netflix I subscribe to Playstation Vue. Has all the live TV channels I need and the cloud DVR is great. Also able to stream to 5 devices. Works for me. I am using Fire Sticks / Fire Tv on all the displays

In reference to the services, I occasionally supplement the three I mentioned with Sling TV. For example, I subscribe for a month during the Soccer World Cup or the Olympics.

Hi Mark -
I've been thinking about cutting cable as well - but...
My needs are simple - local and national news with an occasional dose of Fox or MSNBC for entertainment. Amazon Prime for movies, YouTube for new music.
But my wife is all over the dial - National Geographic, PBS, multiple news feeds, History channel, Nature channel, local news, Sewing channel, etc. etc. etc.
Last time I did the math, I would have paid just as much for all the content she wants independently as I currently pay for a package via cable.
But the last time I checked was about a year and a half ago. Has pricing changed?
Thanks - Boom

We only have the internet plus local HD over the air .....Plenty to watch on Netflix, History channel, etc. on Apple TV. And Tidal over the internet serves all the high quality music imaginable.
And, no stupid news, ads etc to pay for.
