I recently acquired an Emotiva ERC-2 CD player and it is having triuble reading discs. It loads and ejects the discs just fine, but doesn't want to play them. It will said loading for a while and then eject the disc and display no disc on the screen. It does this with multiple cds and cant get it to play. I called Emotiva's customer service and they said they have no available parts to fix it. Has anyone else come across this issue and found a solution to fix it? I'm hoping this might be an easy fix that I can do myself.

If you're very lucky it could simply be a speck of dust on the LASER lens. If so, then blowing into the slot, or opening up the unit and VERY carefully cleaning the lens, may fix it.
There are several other possible causes - but none of them is especially easy to diagnose or fix. It would be significant whether your unit only does this on some CDs... or whether NO discs actually play correctly in it.

I had an ERC-1 that the drive stop working(reading discs) I had to buy a new drive for it, this is about 4 or 5 years back but i still found the part looking it up on google. Model: S036CK8SA alltronicmarketplace.com.sg/component/vcd-dvd-dvr-blue-ray-parts/sfhd850-mech-hd-las-sf-hd850-mech-chn-20632.htmlIf blowing out dust doesn't work you may just need a new drive for it. Here are a few photos I took when I did it, sorry not the best ones www.flickr.com/gp/creimes750/9fk75WCheers, Chad

Thanks, Chad! You are the man!
I took the drive out last night and cleaned the lens reasembled. I was able to play the 1st track of every CD but wouldn't play any other tracks. It was a step in the right direction, but for $15 I'll just buy a new drive and install it.
