This is so easy. Wire is it. Everything else is dependent on so many factors wireless. Extenders sometimes work. Mostly not. Another WAP maybe a good idea. But good old fashioned wire ethernet gets it done reliably. I only use wifi on my tablet and phone, otherwise ethernet is my go too. You coming over to run the cable in my crawlspace? Mark

Nope you can get a real pro to do that. When I did custom, we ran allot of Cat5 cable.

I would go with Cat6 or Cat6e.
In general, the labor involved in running wires is significant, but the actual cable itself is cheap.
Therefore I would always spend a few extra bucks on higher-rated cable if there's any chance of avoiding having to replace it later.

You wouldn’t recommend running cat6 at this time? We don’t know what lays ahead! 😎 I've got mostly cat6 in my house. I might end up running a hard line. I have 1 box with a coax connector on it (and RG6 wired to it). It wouldn't be too hard to drop that back down into the crawl space (with string tied to it), feed one of those thin/flat Cat6 lines down into the hole into the crawlspace, then pull the RG6 back up through (pretty sure the cat6 connector won't fit through while the RG6 is in the hole). A quick trip to Parts Express would get me a faceplate with an RJ45 and a coax connector, so I'd still have both available. Then, I'd only have to pull the cat 6 into the ceiling of a room downstairs and run it over to where my router it - all through suspended ceiling once I get it out of the crawlspace. But, since vcautokid won't come run the line for me, I'd have to get in the crawlspace myself. At least it is ~3+ feet from the pea gravel to the floor joists above, but in total it's over 40' from the entrance to the wall in question. Mark
