So I’ve been “breaking in” my speaker cables, Morrow Audio SP6, since I got them a little over 2 weeks ago. I listen to the 2 channel system all the time and when I leave home I unplug the FM antenna. The only time my system is not on is when I sleep. A few days ago, while I was listening to music, there was a held note, and during this held note the music suddenly became more. I mean it seamed like the music suddenly had more depth, more color and became richer. The best way I can explain it is when you watched The Wizard of Oz and it suddenly goes from black and white to color.
Did I just experience my speaker cables “breaking in” first hand?

IMO there is this really glorious time when your ears adjust to your speakers. It can be like an epiphany. I for one don’t believe I’ve ever heard a speaker break in or cable, pre amp etc. it’s simply that time when everything is calibrated correctly and you accept the sounds and stop fighting it.

My .02 My thoughts as well, when I first ran Dirac on my XMC-1 I noticed it really leveled the frequency response out which took time to get used to but once I did and how much more I could hear into the music and/or movie I started to really enjoy it even more.

“Did I just experience my speaker cables “breaking in” first hand?” You did indeed, although extensive research on this has indicated the phenomenon has more to do with planetary alignment, than the wire itself.

I've even "caught" myself getting used to a major flaw in the system and didn't catch it until someone else took note.

Sometimes I will purposely take a break from my system just to hear any adjustments I need to make. Usually if I ignore it for 3 or 4 days I can come back and make minor adjustments. It honestly takes me months sometimes a year to get everything perfect.

These are great points indeed, and go to the fact that most of us are not in the "critical listening mode" all the time; once the work is done and are back to the "business" of enjoying film and music. Bill
