I'm surprised nobody has mentioned the picture of the room in which they were measured. Mercy...a lot going on there. It always amazes me when people spend a lot of $ and the room is an acoustic mess. And, I wonder how the guy gets to all the stuff behind the gear w/o stepping on cables (they must be on lifters...). Mark When a person spends 10k on speakers I m sure they are not too concern about that kind of stuff you mentioned (It is all good because I am sure they are a bargain because they sound like 100k speakers 🤣🙄). Or...they sound like "White van" speakers... Mark

I love Melody Gardot. Check out her story of a severe brain injury due to a bicycle accident and how music saved her life. Mark While riding her bicycle in Philadelphia in November 2003,[6][7] Gardot was struck by the driver of an SUV and sustained head, spinal, and pelvic injuries.[1] Confined to a hospital bed for a year, she needed to relearn simple tasks and was left oversensitive to light and sound.[3] Suffering from short- and long-term memory loss, she struggled with her sense of time.[8][9] Encouraged by a physician who believed music would help heal her brain, Gardot learned to hum, then to sing into a tape recorder, and eventually to write songs.[10] For several years, she traveled with a physiotherapist and carried a transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulator to reduce pain.[3][9] Given her oversensitivity to sound, she chose quieter music. On the treadmill, she listened to bossa nova by Stan Getz. Unable to sit comfortably at the piano, she learned to play guitar on her back.[4] During her recovery, she wrote songs that became part of the self-produced EP Some Lessons: The Bedroom Sessions.[11] Gardot was reluctant to record her songs at first, stating that they were too private for the public to hear, but relented and allowed her songs to be played on a Philadelphia radio station.[ Wow! Thanks!

@shimei - May I offer a suggestion? When you listen to stereo, cover that center TV with fabric - just drape some over it - and see if it helps imaging. It does in my room!

I begin more room treatment tomorrow Boom. Coincidinky that you suggested such. As I sat in front of the system today I imagine a horizontal rod above the tv that a big panel can hang from over the TV when not viewing what I'm listening to. I imagine the soundstage will be improved as you suggest. Tomorrow I'm hanging 3 panels on the left top side wall. Maybe sometime in the future I'll do the curtain rod idea w/ hanging panels over the three side windows in addition to the tv!

Consider "soundproof drapes" with a ceiling-mounted rod in front of the TV. To watch, just open the drapes. To listen only, close them. Cheap - Effective - Attractive
"Soundproof" drapes are available in different lengths & widths as well as in different colors & patterns at CHEAP prices on Amazon.

Took a measurement [uncorrected by Dirac] from w/in Dirac. I placed the microphone 3 feet in front of each Ulfberht. I'm wondering whether someone may explain the dip I'm seeing in the 25-45hz bass region on my one Ulf. The second photo is the other Ulf which is located near a corner. Solely room interaction?

Yes that is typical room interaction especially with your room setup.

I have measured 4 different pair of speakers in my room and the speaker on the right all have a dip at 50hz. Even if I place a subwoofer in that position the output simply sucks.

My current room is so bad that I prefer listening to a cheap pair of sennheisers than I do my old 2 channel Kef/emotiva system.
I admire all you guys that have the funds and patience and desire to pick up these fridge sized speakers though. I'm at that point in life where I just can't be bothered.

I do more listening over my Sennheiser headphones than my speakers due to "life" issues. I like the ability to crank up the volume without disturbing people and the privacy to do so. I enjoy it so much that I have rethought my upgrade path and plan to focus on headphones now. Which ones do you use? I want to upgrade my HD700 to HD800S and buy Emotiva's still unreleased Class A headphone amp.

I'm using HD 429's at the moment (I did say "cheap", right? ) Looking to upgrade, but would prefer wireless as the cable tends to bother me. But after trying the HDR 165, I need to add "light weight" to my criteria, I find those in particular hurt my ears (physically) whereas the el cheapo's I normally use are fine for hour+ listening. The HDR's sound much nicer, but are finicky to sit right on my head (small adjustments really change the sound quality). So that's where I am. I'd pay hundreds for a good quality set of Sennheisers, but they have to be wireless, lightweight, and sound really good. I haven't found a pair like that yet but haven't tried looking all that much either.

The HD700 is slightly on the heavy side for me so I'm worried about the weight of the HD800S.
